But you also have a half empty stadium on senior night, when arguably the most successful class is graduating along with your elite QB. And your former coach constantly complained about fan support.

My point is, if anybody is the show in KY, it's UofL. It's not like we dont put fans in seats. With our schedule this year, its gonna be packed. I understand that there should have been more on senior day. Last years schedule was awful. Look for sold out games every home game this year in ACC play.

There are more Kentucky fans in the state than Louisville fans. I don't think that's up for debate. And with that being the case, his comments weren't inaccurate. Kinda pointless, but accurate.

Did a little researching on the internet, and I found that UK's average attendance is a little over 59,000 in a stadium that holds over 67,000. PJCS holds only 55,000 and the average attendance is a little over 52,000, therefore, UofL's attendance to capacity ratio is higher.

 

Average attendance for what period? And not trying to call you out, but where did you get those figures (again not saying they are wrong, just wondering).

 

I think if U of L were able to get significantly more people to buy tickets to every game, they'd have done a larger expansion of the stadium the last time around or have another level of expansion in the works (which, after more research, they are apparently looking into).

 

I don't think the attendance to capacity ratio is really a good indicator of what most are going for when they compare fans of Louisville vs Kentucky state wide. It's a good indicator of some things about each individually, especially the Louisville program, but I don't know how much of an indicator it is when comparing the two.

Since we are talking about attendance, you have to take into account that it is well documented and known that UK has fans in every part of the state, many of which will never attend a game and Louisville has a very large nucleus of fans in a very highly populated area which happens to be where the University it located. I would not be surprised for that fact alone Louisville has better attendance.

 

But, not being a "true blooded" fan of either program, I'm on board with Louisville being the premier football program in the state.

The attendance argument doesn't matter. There are more Kentucky fans across the Commonwealth than Louisville fans; it's not up for debate. Nobody went to the UofL senior day last year because it was cold and we were playing Memphis... and after watching Strong do everything in his power to give that one away before finally eking out a win, I wished I'd watched it on TV too.

 

None of that stuff matters.

 

Can we get this thread back on track to talking about how old rambler thinks Louisville didn't get the best coach available because there were all sorts of unproven assistants out there that Louisville could have spent big money on?

I honestly have no clue what any of his recruits were rated but JokersWild's post above is pretty solid.

Then tried to say their resumes were better than Petrino's' date=' because they had won more BCS games. You were wrong, as none of them have won games as an HC, and now you are trying to convince people that we attribute wins and losses to coordinators... I don't buy Morris for a second because it's well known he wants the Florida job. And I don't believe Louisville wins any battle for James Franklin.

 

But as a whole, they're all interesting suggestions. But... are you going to sit there and tell us that these guys are all absolutely BETTER options than Petrino, who's coached in two BCS bowls himself as a head coach and proven time and time again that he knows how to win games?
