Had an opportunity to hang out with Kenny Walker at an appearance he made at a store I worked with. Spent a couple of hours with him and he was much cooler and engaging than I thought he would be. HE is one of my favorite 2 or 3 Wildcats of all time and it was great just talking to him.

I almost put him on here. I met him at a UK game. We were leaving at the same time and we turned around and noticed it was him. Only talked with him for a few minutes but he seemed really cool.

I met Ken Griffey Jr about ten years ago while I was working at GABP. Very funny and relaxed man. Treated everyone with respect. Ido not know why he had a reputation of being a jerk.

 

I met Chad Johnson at Montgomery Inn in 2004. I am 6'4 and I had to look almost straight up. He must be 6'7 or so. Seemed very tall in person.

I have met many and seen many, many more up close and in person. But the most memorable wow moment for me is Bill Laimbeer in person. His back was so broad it almost looked inhuman.

He's actually not that big at all.

I really have yet to meet an athlete and it not be a terrible experience.

 

My favorites are Brandon Phillips, who gets a bad rap and some deservedly so, but he is one of the happiest athletes I've seen and talked to. Anthony Munoz, he's as close a thing to an athlete saint as you can get IMO. Rey Maualuga is awesome as well, talked to him at a few Hoghlands games and he always remembers me, even if he doesn't remember my name lol. Also since he is my avatar, met Mesoraco while waiting for a table at a restraint downtown once. He and his female friend he was with chatted up me and my wife for a few minutes, very down to earth and great guy.

 

One athlete I really want to meet is Joey Votto, I rarely get to see the other side of him, and it would be very interesting to see that.

I was always a Nebraska Cornhusker fan, so I was stoked when the Bengals signed Dave Remington. Got to see him in person at Taco Bell on Dixie Hwy. He is HUGE!

About 20 years ago when I was in college, me and some buddies went to the casino in Metropolis, IL. I set down at a blackjack table to play. In then realized that Rex Chapman was sitting next to me. Played for about 2 hours with him, pretty down to earth.

 

Only problem he kept twitting that Pitino was going to the Celtics.

Many years back, I was at the Cleveland airport when Andre The Giant came through. I was probably 20' away from him. Holy crap is all I can say. He was a mountain.

 

I was around Bowie and Turpin a lot at UK. They were big and tall, he was massive.

Played blackjack with some current Bengals. Kevin Huber was the only one that talked much.
