"Questionable calls" are usually in the eyes of the beholder. I haven't seen such claims from the Rose Hill side although I feel sure the same claims can be made (42 foul shots is a goodly number under any circumstance). I think the game was much closer than Ashland and its followers anticipated. I also think that it is possible that their foulshooters did not perform in the fourth quarter because of the pressure (That is, at least, a valid consideration, don't you think?).

 

Ashland won this game. However, I believe that its supporters feel the footsteps quickly approaching from behind- actually much closer than they wanted to believe. Those middleschoolers, freshmen, and sophomores are, it must be admitted, for real. Of all of the above posts, Nothingbutnet's post about Matt is clearly the most relevant.

 

Ashland won the game. Rose Hill sent a message. Actually, it was a "win" for both camps. Hopefully, they will have a regular season game before 2012 as is now, from what I hear, the first possible "open" date.

 

Good luck to Ashland as it moves on to Morehead. With the happenings of the last few weeks, I would have to tab them as the favorites to go to Rupp Arena- at least for this year.

I can hardly believe that you are whining about the officiating. Okay, that is a lie, I can believe it. I said in a previous thread that I hoped that we got a good officiating job. I thought it was very well officiated, both ways. I thought Flynn had the kids ready with a good game plan. However, the officiating was fine. :thumb:

The paid attendance last night was 768. Add in the passes that were used (including the players, coaches, and pep band), the workers, and the referees, and it appears that the crowd would have fit in Charles Stewart Gymnasium (Some may remember that Rose Hill wanted to host its opening game in its facility but was voted down by the two "big" schools). Wonder what might have happened if the venue were different? Maybe nothing, maybe something, but it is a good hypothetical for discussion. It sure beats complaining about imagined mistakes from the referees.

The steal by Reliford typifies this Ashland team. Very unselfish, and Wilcox had his best game of the year at the right time.

I thought the officials did a good job for the first 28 minutes, but after that you couldnt sneeze on the floor without the whistle blowing, but in the end it didnt matter.

 

GodIsATomcat, I sure you were happy with the first 28 miniutes. Ashland had 2 team fouls at the half, I believe Rose Hill had 9. I thought we fouled all 9 times quite honestly but I find it hard to believe that someone could complain when they had 2 team fouls in a half.

 

The officials had very little bearing on this game. The team that played better won, plain and simple.

I agree on both counts, Reliford is always hustling and I thought Wilcox was the difference.

As I have said in earlier posts that speaking negatively about a kid is just plain pathetic. Remember, they are just kids and sometimes they or their friends may read some of this garbage. I will assure you gopack that Chase"s time will come. And as far as being special.... oh just ask anyone that knows him! Rose Hill has a fabulous team. We all wanted a win but it just was not our time. Stay tuned though....Stick to the game highlights and don't specifically jump on one kid. Now that's the nice version. :mad:

 

I am not speaking negitavely about him. If you will refer to some of my previous post's, I have said he will be a good one and that he was underrated. I was just stating a fact.

Rose hill was one or 2 'big' shots away from this game. I believe it Rose Hill would have tied this game then they would have pulled away with the win. Thomas played a great game. He hit a lot of key shots. When Thomas gets loose and shoots that mid-range jumper he is deadly.

It was a predictable win for the Tomcats. I really believe it would have been a completely different game if Rose Hill had stepped up the pressure and pace earlier in the game. You can't let a Flynn-coached team dictate the tempo or it's a recipe for disaster. This time of year Flynn wants the game to be low scoring and slow (unless they are blowing someone out). If a team plays into that you are probably staring at a loss at the end of the night.

 

That may be the last time a Rose Hill team does not go to the Region for many years to come, assuming Coach Fraley is able to keep the natives happy and everyone sticks with the program.

The things that keep kids happy are playing and winning. I think these kids believe in themselves and realize how close they were last night even though they are young.

While it is true that officiating didn't affect the game, I was unhappy with how they let the kids play physical for the 1st 3 qtrs and then changed the way they were calling the game in the 4th qtr. It really didn't matter that much to me, since I was a neutral observer, but it does frustrate me because of the inconsistent way that officials have been calling games. As for Ashlands FT total, RH started fouling Ash with 4 1/2 min to go and sending them to the line, which as it turns out, was a good move since Ash couldn't capitalize because of their poor FT shooting.
