Impressed by Hancock and Smith coming through in the clutch. If I was a UL fan id be so irritated at Harrell. As soon as he gets the ball he wants to pass unless he's under the basket. There were times if he literally took a step towards the basket he'd have a layup. But instead he opted to not make a play.

And exhale. Hancock and Smith was huge in the end. Yes, they shot horribly as a team, but Manhattan's defense was very good. More than happy for the win.

Luke and Russ wouldn't let 'em lose. Doesn't have to be pretty.

Never knew Manhattan had so many fans in the Commonwealth...

What a strange game. Louisville had been rolling with that matchup zone for more than a month; played 40 mins of man-to-man last night. They played a zone pretty much the whole evening; Louisville couldn't even sniff a look from three for most of the game.

Ugly. Manhattan's "foul on every trip down the floor" defense almost worked.

Survive. Advance.

SLU is next.

Didn't see a second of this one, as I fell asleep. I know, some fan I am. I've got it DVR'd, but reading tweets and posts about the game, I'm not even sure if I want to watch it.

Pitino said at the press conference that it looked like one of

L'villes practices as Manhattan runs the same scheme as the

Most of Pitino's former assistants try to model their programs from Louisville, at least to an extent.

Agree. Heard Pitino say at half and after that Jaspers "pass too good" to play zone. We'll never know. Happy to have the ugly W and move on. Must play better to do anything in this tourney.

Before the game, Pitino instituted all new plays and sets on offense and defense is what I heard yesterday on the Terry Meiner's show. He was concerned because he knew Manhattan would know every single play that UL would run, offensively, defensively, in-bounding, all. This could be a combination of the fact that they did indeed know everything about Louisville, and the UL players being uncomfortable with such a changed game plan.

Manhattan played them really tough. I was shocked by how composed Manhatttan seemed throughout the game, only to unravel the way they did in the final couple minutes. A weak cross-court pass against a press with a little over two minutes left started the melt down and they couldn't recover. Hats off to Louisville on advancing.

Side note, both these teams were grabbing and fouling a lot, especially Manhattan. I thought the refs weren't going to allow this anymore, or does it just depend on the two teams involved and they just go with the flow? Sure makes for a lot of inconsistent referreing across the board.

I think I saw on Twitter this morning where Manhattan fouled more than anyone in the country. Like that is part of their game plan. As for the new rule, it has been extremely inconsistent throughout the year.
