I know this isn't specifically stated by the OP but it will all come out. So sad....

 

While I don't follow the 10th region as closely as I do the 9th, this is 100% correct.

 

I work with a guy who is very close to the situation and the way (reason) this coach was pushed out is absolutely ridiculous.

 

I don't blame the coach for saying "I don't need this."

I have some background at Bracken, knew Chad (and his brother, Rodney) as a kid, so this situation interests me.

 

Saw in the other thread that one reason for the coach's "resignation" is that while they made regional in three of his years there, they weren't competitive in those games. My question to that is...when exactly has Bracken County performed well in the regional? 1955? 1944? They never really have in my lifetime. I think they've won two regional tournament games since 1979?

 

What are the expectations there? Why has Augusta left them in the dust despite having a third of the student body?

I am not knowledgeable enough about this specific issue to comment but I'd like to say this about Chad: During Brent's HS career he showed the utmost respect for Brent on and off the court and was always very complementary about Brent's abilities and the way he handled himself as a player. As a Father, I respect him for that and whatever the situation, that won't change for me. Additionally, in a general sense, as a "small" school advocate I can state that mutual loyalty is imperative and if or when you don't have that, you have problems. I believe we have that at Augusta and that's a big reason why we've had extraordinary success both academically and athletically over the past several years and also why we have such a large, loyal fan base. Again, I don't know the situation at Bracken well enough to know if this applies but in a general sense I know it's imperative at small schools.

Don't know anything about the situation besides what's been written here and that they are a far stronger program than they were in the early to mid 2000's.

 

It is always sad when someone from the outside comes into the administration of your school and makes decisions that alumni ashamed to call themselves so. Been there. Done that.

Chad is a good guy and a great coach. Worked with what he had in front of him and held his own IMO. Feels a little bit like another coaching issue from the 10th this year. Too bad if it went down that way. Good luck to Chad and I hope he lands somewhere if he wants to get back into the shark tank.

 

It's a shame that everyone outside the lines can do such a better job coaching than those that grind it out day and night. These decisions affect families and are a nature of the beast, but all too often it seems like they keep feeding the beast instead of standing up to it.

This is so true. I mean why should coaches spend 2-3 hours at practice 5-6 days a week, watch film, scout, plan practice and games, etc etc if the parents can just show up to games and know who should be playing and what position and how much. Makes me furious. Why have coaches at all?

Tough news for Chad. Maybe Mike Hunter should be removed as Principal, too? He obviously doesn't have the guts to stand up to parents and defend his staff, so he should go as well. Coward. Clyde's point was right on, the only thing I value in this world is loyalty and without it you are nothing.

Although not intimate with the Bracken program, I know Chad and wish him the best in whatever comes next for him. He put his heart and soul into the program and it's a shame that he was treated this way by the administration.
