March 3, 201412 yr Pat Forde is a biased moron. Some of his points may be valid, but the best team Cal's had at UK had one player that he didn't recruit. That's my biggest criticism. Cal also had success at UMass and his biggest success at Memphis with teams he recruited. The last two seasons have been bad, but to act like Calipari can't coach is ridiculous. Maybe he's not the X and O savant that Coach K is but you don't have the kind of success that Cal has had without being able to coach. I do think he needs to change his focus a little bit (like the class he has coming in seems to be with some guys that will take a few years) but all coaches go through lulls. Pitino was a season a way from running away from it all until he got a team that clicked and made it fun again. Duke was down for a few years. UNC has been really inconsistent. It happens. Every recruiting analyst vastly overrated the Harrisons. Every one of them. Even ones who didn't think they were as good as their hype still overrated them.
March 3, 201412 yr All the while, Kansas has the projected top two picks in next years draft and they have lost 7 games. Yet, nobody is criticizing Bill Self.
March 3, 201412 yr Crazy season for college basketball. Tom Izzo's team is struggling as well. March madness may be the wildest we've seen in a long time. Cal deserves the criticism but Cats aren't the only one struggling. Biggest question I have so far is how did Tennessee beat Virginia by 35?

Cal deserves the criticism but Cats aren't the only one struggling. Biggest question I have so far is how did Tennessee beat Virginia by 35? By far the most perplexing score of the season. And the only reason UT may make the tournament. UVA also lost to Green Bay and scored 38 points against Wisconsin.

March 3, 201412 yr Have you checked the Kansas message boards? Which is ignorant too. They're like 7-4 vs the top 25, that's pretty dang good for this year
March 3, 201412 yr Like I said in the other thread this is what Cal is talking about when he says 10 years is the max here. As far as the recruiting guys that stick around a couple to a few years go. Did anyone really believe Bledsoe would be so good he left after one year? What if Meeks would have came back? Bledsoe would have played about 8-10 minutes a game and been back. If he came back would Knight have come? What about this year? Did anyone really believe Wiltjer would transfer out b/c he thought he was over recruited? If he was here would they be better? Did he sign the two KY kids this year thinking they would be around a while? Some of the criticisms are somewhat fair maybe, but his recruiting is not one of the things that can be criticized.
March 3, 201412 yr The thing that gets me about the media saying this team was overhyped were the same people overhyping them in October. If they're going to call out Cal an UK they might as well atleast call themselves out. Which we know will never happen
March 4, 201412 yr "don't give the idiot writers your eyeballs" "guys gonna be in the soup line soon enough, don't give him your eyeballs"
March 4, 201412 yr Which is ignorant too. They're like 7-4 vs the top 25, that's pretty dang good for this year I was referring to the national media See the above post as to why the national media isn't all that hard on Kansas. Kentucky's record v. the top 25 is much worse, and given the hype of Kentucky's class as opposed to Kansas' it's no wonder Calipari and UK have taken more heat. Keep in mind Embiid has been a surprise and wasn't heralded the way Wiggins, Randle, Harrisons, etc. were.

Keep in mind Embiid has been a surprise and wasn't heralded the way Wiggins, Randle, Harrisons, etc. were. Embiid was a surprise until mid-November. He ascended to the top of draft boards almost instantaneously. I think you are stretching it with that one. The record vs. the top 25 I'll give you; but, to still have what many believe to be the top 2 prospects in college basketball it is more than fair to question why KU has 7 losses and a few other close calls.

Embiid came on to the scene late, but everyone that saw him knew he was an elite prospect. Time was the only thing that kept the hype lower than the others...

They play a more demanding schedule? Let's be honest, a lot of the questions surrounding Kentucky have to do with the acknowledgement that the SEC is awful, and Kentucky still isn't getting the job done. South Carolina? C'mon.

While I agree, UK does have the 9th hardest schedule in the country. It would probably be much lower if they took your advice and scheduled Indiana. Sorry couldn't resist
