March 6, 201412 yr Adam Dunn has about as much chance of making it to Cooperstown as Dave Kingman does. Compare his offensive numbers to other people. Throw in the fact that he has never been linked to PED. Hard pressed to find anyone to match him in the last 15 years.

Career Strikeouts In a year and a half — if he's still in the league by that point — he should easily have No. 1 on this list, with nowhere near the impact on the game relative to his era compared to any of the other HOFers on this list. His continued flirtations with the Mendoza line make him a risky proposition as an everyday player with his declining skills and production.

Year in and Year Out, Nolan Ryan was a 500 or sub 500 pitcher. In 27 years he had 16 winning seasons and about 9 of those were only 3 games over 500. Nolan Ryan is on the top five list of losses. I know it is apples to oranges, but so is Dave Kingman. Kingman's career OBP was 302. 64 points lower than Dunn. His Runs Scored is 901, which is presently 200 behind Dunn. Kingman hit 442 Homeruns, Dunn could surpass that by 150. Kingman had 608 career Walks. Dunn present has OVER 1200!!!!! How can anyone compare Kingman to Dunn?

How can anyone compare Kingman to Dunn? Because they're the same player! If Kingman played now I have no problem believing he could go for 600+ HRs against the watered-down pitching of the past two decades. Like many others, Adam Dunn's numbers are a product of the era he plays in. Bashing Ryan for his W-L record is a bit silly and shows a lack of understanding about how terrible the teams were he pitched for. As far as great pitchers go, he got very little run support.

As far as great pitchers go, he got very little run support. Did Dunn not play on some pretty poor team with atrocious (sp) pitching staffs? Who would you rather have hitting fourth or fifth the past five years; Adam Dunn, Johnny Gomes, Fred LEwis, Chris Heisy, or Ryan Ludwick? I do see your point though. But it is hard to look past a 366 OBP, a number that is higher than Ichiro's and for a long time was higher than Derek Jeter's.
March 10, 201412 yr By the time I was old enough to really remember any of the Reds players from the BRM, most were at the end of their careers or playing elsewhere. With one big exception: I clearly remember Concepcion dogging it down first base line sometimes carrying his bat half way down. Drove me crazy. No way watching that do I think he is a HOF! And still my least favorite.
March 10, 201412 yr Pete Rose, although I acknowledge he was a great player. I just couldn't stand him. I thought it was baloney that people said he over achieved. He was extremely talented. Arrogant to the nth degree. By far my laeast favorite.
March 12, 201412 yr Johnny Bench Yeah, JB's a butt. He did, however, sign a five dollar bill for me(that's all I had) and feigned a little bit of a smile. It was at a BANK ONE function. I chatted with him for a couple of minutes and told him about one of the first games I ever went to, a game in which homered off of Steve Blass. He was moderately courteous that day but I wasn't surprised when I heard later that he was quite of an arse most of the time.
March 13, 201412 yr Then Tony should have traded in his wife! LOL!!!! I remember the Robinson trade. Terrible decision. And his winning the Triple Crown the next season for the Orioles proved it. The only dumb trade that comes close to that one is when they traded Perez, who still had some productive years left in him, to a bunch of washed up players, one which was probably older than Perez. Third dumbest move is when they decided to fire Sparky. Then he travels on to Detroit and wins another World Series title.
