Way to represent the 9th NCC!

Rocks miss first ten shots. Most from three feet. Breds did a nice job of hitting big shots. They seem to follow every Rocks misfortune with a made three. Not a well played game. Both teams were stuck in the mud a lot. Trinity seem to do better when picking up the pace. Without seeing stats, NCC seem to have more rebounds. Very exciting finish. Terrible goal-tending call on Spaulding came into play.

Wow! Defense must have been tight. Congrats to NCC on the big win.. 9th Tournament will be tons of fun this year.

NCC snapped Trinity's 25 game home floor winning streak. Trinity's poor free throw shooting rears its ugly head. Two excellent teams.

The win over Covington Holmes on Friday loomed large in terms of the 9th Region.

But the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds boys basketball team followed it up with an even bigger win Tuesday in Louisville. The sixth-ranked Thoroughbreds won their 19th straight nipping the fourth-ranked and host Trinity Shamrocks, 45-44. Trinity (23-5) won the state championship two years ago.

The Thoroughbreds (25-3) saw two post players lead the way. Drew McDonald had 14 points and Jake Schulte followed with 11. NewCath also saw senior guard Tanner Moeves return from injury.

NewCath finishes the season Thursday at home against Conner. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Just an incredible schedule for NCC this year and they continue to impress...massive win on the road.
