If Jon hodge don't want to come back home because of a few bad apples and social media then he can stay in Paris! I played for him when he was an assistant for Martin Bastin in middle school and he talked so much crap about Boyle County and how he hated everyone over there and just a few years later that's where he ended up. So who knows what will happen in the next few weeks. I'm like everyone else and want to see this program keep going in the right direction and not take a step back

I think the reason he ended up at Boyle county was because Garrard County wouldn't or didn't give or let him keep his teaching job. I'm not 100% on this but it went something like that. As far as talking about Boyle County......did he bash them on the internet....don't think so....could he have been trying to motivate the team when they played Boyle......maybe. Need to move on from thinking he will be the coach.....not going to happen. Let's just hope the school will get a great coach for the school and especially the kids.

I don't believe social media..Facebook ect was big back then. It was a constant bashing of Boyle county ..coaches and players not just a pre game thing. I was around him quite a bit! And I'm not saying in anyway that he's going to be the coach just pointing out a few things and everyone in the community that I know thinks highly of him. He got pretty lucky at Bourbon county and walked into a team with a lot of talent in a weak district.. Only time will tell how "great" of a coach he is

Just my opinion but I'd wait until it can even be confirmed that Coach Hodge feels that way before speculating that he does feel that way.

I know most in the community likes him and would love for him to be the coach. It's not the community that will keep this from happening.

Central Sports, if you have read my above post then I take it that you believe what I have written. It is the reason Garrard does not deserve a good coach. If the only time that any of these guys have been part of success is when they had talent then Garrard needs to put up their equipment. I know some of the teams Perry and Hester had were very below average talent wise and they still produced, not signs of good coaches but great coaches. Danville is Danville and they have had good and bad teams, but like everyone they have more talent than most in the Classes they played in with 7 or 8 state championships with Perry at D-Coordinator, same with Hester at Boyle. You guys need to be realistic. I am done Perry/Hester/Hodge would be like bringing back Lombardi from the dead for your program. You will not out work these guys, you may not like them, but all get results.

Time will tell with Hodge being a head man ..not just two years :thumb:

Hodge did coach the middle school for one or two years and won a conference championship but he actually never taught in the system (outside of perhaps some substitute teaching). His brother Brian, now an assistant principal at Bourbon County, did teach special education at the middle school for one year before going to Rowan County. John's wife does teach at an elementary school in the county and has for a long time.

That's right and when he got out of college he couldn't get a teaching job at Garrard so he when to Boyle.

I've been told today that there are 15 - 18 applicants with at least 7 or 8 that have head coaching experience. The favorite is a former GCHS coach. I can't say who told me, but you can take it to the bank. Not quite a done-deal yet, so hold on.
