Looks pretty good. Maybe a few adjustments but the concept of everyone else in the other 4 classes is intriguing.

No way could Mayfield compete year in and out in super class. Unless we could combine Graves County with Mayfield (laughing). Now a small school super class with say 3A down , Mayfield could win some of those everyonce in a while.

Alabama just started a 7A class. Some are calling it a Super Class. I think it would only work in Kentucky when Trinity had a down year.

I like this. To make it even more fair, I would do something like the English Premier Soccer (I think). The two last place teams in the super classes would fall to their respective class an the two state finalists from each class would move up to the super classes. You never know which programs might be growing and getting super competitive and which programs might be losing their luster.

We have kicked this around and have suggested it for years but in reality I doubt it ever gets much traction.

 

However, no way the small schools could ever hope to compete.

 

I like the idea of a super class with 16 teams in it. Anyone can opt in the top 16 and after the volunteers then the schools with the largest enrollment fill out the remaining spots.

 

Next I would like to see the smallest 16 teams in Class A and then we would have nearly 100 teams in 2A and 3A.

 

I would seed the Super Class and Class 1A (we would do that for the KHSAA).

 

With this format every one of the four championship games would be very meaningful.

 

Of course I want to win the lottery too...

G, how many total classes are you advocating here? Are you saying 16 teams in Super Class, 16 Teams in 1A, and everybody else split up in 2A and 3A?

While Mr. Franks concept is fun forum fodder it is definitely arbitrary. And that is not what KHSAA is supposed to do. KHSAA is a function of the KBE. And the KBE is a function of Kentucky legislature. And the Kentucky legislature is a function of the Constitution. And the Constitution prevents laws, policies, rules, etc. that are...arbitrary.

 

Enrollments and distances between schools is objective, not arbitrary - hence why they are used.
