It was odd, but nothing is worse than the camera angle from a few years ago when UK played Mississippi State (I think it was MSU). They had the camera on that big bertha speaker pointed down at the court. Everybody got vertigo from watching it.

Wears me out, but that took it over the top and you could tell that he was really into it, I mean, like he had even more of "Yeah, now people really get to here what I have to say!" feeling.

I prefer Dykes to Vitale's slipping mind. It had to have been someone's idea to place him along the baseline. Again, I just didn't get it. I am not sure how that angle provided a better analytical vantage point. He didn't provide anything differently than he would have in his normal seat.

I'm not a fan of Dykes by any stretch, but let's not get carried away. A deaf, blind, mute is a better option than Vitale.

I don't either, he acted like he was so close to the action and could hear everything so well. You sit a freaking mid court all game. You can't get a better seat than that. I don't mind Dykes, seems like I'm in the minority.

What I really hated about it was that they went with the picture in picture view of it even when the ball was on the opposite side of the court.

I think I made my feelings known quite well during the game update thread. I only watch ESPN during game broadcasts because they make sports about the sports analysts, not the sport itself. Now, they're trying to inject more of the analyst into the game itself.

 

What they did last night with Dykes completely defeats the purpose of watching the game in HD, if they are going to have multiple windows, with one being his perspective with his head in the shot. As usual, I didn't the sound up, so I didn't have to listen to him, but his presence and that sequence added nothing to the game and took away much.

Now, had a player lost control and plowed a knee or elbow into Jimmy's chin or mouth, that would have been entertainment.

 

Provided the player didn't get hurt, of course.

He should be able to hear the game from his normal seat. It's not like Rupo Arena is too loud.

It reminded me of the late night hunting shows on ESPN.

 

I felt like he was wispering so he wouldn't spook Julius.
