Bomb Threat At Highlands High School

Featured Replies

I heard that today was the court date for the 3 Kenton County teens who randomly attacked people in Ft. Thomas during football season. Court was postponed because one had the flu. Wonder if he was bored this am??? Not accusing; just wondering about the coincidence.

Welcome to a day at Boone Co. In the 90s.

2000's too. My freshmen year we had 3-4 in a 2 week period until they threatened that for every bomb threat they received they'd tack on another day at the end of the schools year. They ended again and I'm not sure we had more than one my next. 3.5 years.

I remember one time in the late 90s Mr. Baker at the end of his road said "don't open for locker it may explode" on the PA, very encouraging day.

That would do it.

Back in the 80's when I was teaching, we had bomb threats for something like 7-8 days straight. I went down to see the principal during my planning and the phone rang (yes he answered the phone calls coming in during those days). He picks up the phone listens for about 5 seconds and said "we are not taking bomb threats today" and slammed the phone down. I was shocked and then laughed until it hurt. Couldn't do that today and he probably shouldn't have done it then, but it was classic.

Let's face it - if someone wanted to blow up a school for real, they would just do it; no phone call.

Two scenarios

1 - They want to hurt a lot of people. They don't give a warning.

2 - They don't want to hurt anyone but want to damage the facility. They do it late at night.

How many bomb threats actually turn into bombs in the area? Can't be many, can it?

This is really a sad situation. I had no idea about all the other calls he made.

Looks like he will do 6 months in County Jail.

FORT THOMAS MATTERS

I feel bad for Tyler and hope that he gets the help he needs. From what I've seen in the past, he was a really good kid. Kids do stupid things for various reasons and now his entire life is forever changed because of childish pranks.

Is terroristic threatening a felony? I would assume it is.

^^Yes^^. I liked Tyler as well and hope the best for him. To say he will be treated "well" in CCDC is probably not an accurate statement in my opinion, but he will survive and come out the other side. I also believe that his defense was an appopriate defense, just not one that should keep him from being locked up. I hope the best for Tyler, in the next 6 months and going forward....

If you didn't know this young man, it would be easy to say he got what he deserved....I think life may have already given Tyler "what he deserved" and I'm hoping that in the future someone gives him a break, he will need it.

Not childish 'pranks', rather it appears to be an issue of some sort. Understand the kid has been through a lot and hope that he gets it together and becomes a productive member of society. If he needs help of some kind, now is the time to get it.

Hard to feel sorry for someone who made multiple, serious prank calls... Having a physical disability is a poor excuse for acting out, which is exactly what he was doing, IMO.

Bomb threats at schools were a common occurrence in the late 60's. Almost got to the point where we were taking bets on what day the next one would occur.
