January 9, 201412 yr People shouldn't confuse Schwartz the head coach with the defensive coordinator, that wouldn't be bad. This will be a BIG loss for them and even though a lot of fans bagged on him, Gruden did help this offense get better every year. Bengals had something going for them (continuity) that helped get them some success in recent years. These losses will sting and as a non-Bengals fan I am pretty excited about that! And hopefully I didn't confuse anyone with that, I realize this thread is about Zimmer. He will be the bigger loss in my opinion, but I don't think people should be so quick to be happy about Gruden leaving either.
January 9, 201412 yr So Vikings are going to hire another Bengals D Coordinator, cause it worked out so good last time. Big difference Frazier was with the Bengals one year and the Bengals fired him after just one year. He was then the DC in Vikings and was promoted to head coach after a few years. Zimmer on the other hand has done great as the DC in Cincy and been here 6 years. So safe to say they probably like their chances more this time if they hire Zimmer.
January 10, 201412 yr Doggone it, why don't they go after DC's from the teams that actually won a playoff game and leave ours alone! I was hoping he'd be the Bengals HC but knew it was a long shot with Mike Brown involved. Isn't it hard to blame any bad results on Mike Brown nowadays? You guys have got to let it go. It's not 1995. Mike's let others influence player decisions, kept free agents, made the smart deal with Palmer and drafted well.
January 10, 201412 yr I was one who stumbled when it came to Zimm as HC here only because I didn't want to lose him as our DC. With that said though if Mike Brown lets hiim get away without offering him the HC job here then it's just another nail in the coffin of how much I hate how this franchise is run. I agree 100%, Fire " 1 & Done" Marvin, hire Zimm ......Yesterday ! (and offer - pay him enough to keep him from leaving). Personally I didn't want the Bengals to lose Gruden, don't let Zimmer get away.
January 12, 201412 yr It's gonna be a major bummer to lose him. Hopefully they find a suitable replacement because the Bengals could be nasty on D next year with everyone healthy.
January 13, 201412 yr Dan Cole @CommonManKFAN Breaking news: Common' sources say Mike Zimmer will be named the 9th Head Coach of the Vikings....

January 15, 201412 yr Isn't hired yet. This can't be good for him. He must just not interview well at all. But his body of work is really hard to ignore.

I hope it's something along the lines of he is happy with what he's doing now and for hi. To leave and take a HC job he is laying down conditions that must be met that teams aren't willing to do such as more control over personnel decisions etc.
January 15, 201412 yr NFL Inside Analysis @NFL_DraftGuru 12m #Vikings officials hope to meet tonight to discuss their feelings on Zimmer. Hopefully can make a decision and inform Zimmer tomorrow.
