How many Highlands football players are on the basketball team?

I saw a D-lineman. Houliston. Greene (hurt). Maybe a few others.

To answer the question before it is asked of CovCath....VonHandorf played Frosh Football, Sam Dressman was going to play basketball prior to hurting his knee in the Rowan County game but opted out of playing due to the injury. The Frosh team has several but that is it!

.....

I wasn't there and can't speak to whether or not they stayed on the gas too long, but I will say IF they did, it would have way more to do with Kevin than Dale. My opinion.

Cov Cath sort of plays all the players throughout the game and mixes up their starters so there really isn't a lot of drop off or a true second string. Asking Nick to pull back is the true sign of sportsmanship.

Has to be more than a few, remember from earlier threads, people were saying that's what's wrong with Highlands?

I think basketball only are the few.

Of the 8 boys that played the majority of the minutes Houliston (QB) and B. Hergott, Brockett, Weyer, Cain (WR's)

the others that played in the 4th qtr. Hebel (DL), A. Hergott (QB) Kendal and Dougherty (RB's). Green is injured and out for the season.

That's 5 of 8 in last nights rotation (would have been 6 of 9 without Ryan getting hurt).

Field goal attempts: CovCath 55 Highlands 24

I have suffered through several of these type games the last couple of years. Mike Flynn was taken to task for his "flex" offense. Pass, pass, pass, pass, TO. Not sure what I'm watching is much different. Kids hesitant to shoot. Waiting for something to happen, and it usually does - a turnover.

Digest this stat ratio: 24 shots/17 turnovers. A couple of those shots came on the same possession. The turnover to possession ratio was probably close to 50%.

My son says he is having fun. I guess that's all that really matters. Its just not fun to watch.

This was the first game I have been to this year and it was extremely tough to watch.

So is it safe to say that Highlands could see some marked improvement through the end of this month? That's a lot of people.

They have played a lot better than last night. First they didn't shoot and when the did, they shot poorly from the outside. I have never seen a group of kids more hesitant to shoot. You can't score if you opt to continue to pass and turnover and when a shot rarely went up from the outside it wasn't pretty.

Kevin will get them playing. CCH played great defense! They lost to a good team. As it has been mentioned on multiple threads I believe 3 teams are much better than the rest in the 9th. IMO it drops to Dixie and drops again to the rest.

HHS has only had 15 practices with their whole team since the football season ended. Most schools have had almost their entire team 7 weeks before their season started. HHS only had 4 practices. They have not worked hardly any on their press offense. CCH's press just ate them alive and their trapping defense was solid in the half court. HHS's most deliberate game of he year was their best game of the year. Their 3 point percentage says they need to get good shots.

True I believe it was, did that last year to Bo Schuh!

Listen it isn't paying HHS back for the football beatings that HHS has given CovCath, heck it's just that this HHS team and you can add the JV and the Frosh aren't that good! Think of HHS playing Harrison County and Pendleton County in Football at the moment, that is where HHS stands in Basketball compared to CovCath. You might not like the comparison but it's the truth at the moment!

Classy comment about a group of high school kids don't you think? About what I expected though.

Of the varsity players who played last night, Buten is the only basketball only, and the only varsity player that has basketball as their first sport.

Says a lot...

Funny how you deleted your original comment out but a little too late wasn't it? "HHS player could very well have fouled him extremely hard. Then we would have read on here how bush of a play that was by the HHS player."

All I did was recount a play at HHS last year when a HHS player fouled Schuh on what was more than just a normal foul in the game! But then you started the mess, not me!

BTW it was True and if you doubt it go, to this link and then the around the 01:09:05 minute mark!
