Which is about the same age Mueller took over the program. Hopefully it turns out the same way for next 20 years.

Looking forward to the announcement on Monday. Hoping I can make it. Youngest is heading to China the next day. Might be just one of those days.

Did they interview any candidates?

Doesn't have to. A move this fast.....the writing is on the wall.

I believe so too; if Weinrich is not the new head coach, it would be a big surprise.

How does what happen? What are you talking about with 30 days exactly? Not sure what that means.

KHSAA requires coaching jobs be posted for 30 days before they can be filled. I don't know the punishment for not complying with that mandate, but them's the rules.

The 6th is the 31st day since he retired if you count the actual day he retired. Not sure when/if job posted.

I thought that if it is kept within you didn't have to?

He cannot say who it is because the school did not tell him who it is. The e-mail went out to media outlets I am sure and the school has also put it out there on Twitter.

The real question will be what side of the ball Coach Weinrich decides to coach next year or does he take the approach that he is the Head Coach and then has both an offensive and defensive co-ordinator. Also curious to see if they continue to try and two platoon or if they make a more concerted effort to get their best players on the field during cruch time.

Do not expect much to change with the offseason program, but curious to see if some players actually make some position changes this year in order to get them on the field more.

It will be a huge shock to me if he's not coaching the Offense with a New D-Coordinator being named...

They can interview before the 30 days is up.

Have a cite to that rule?

I could see the State Dept of Education having a rule on hiring and considering applicants but not sure how KHSAA could enforce anything as far as hiring goes.

KHSAA has no bearing on the hire, totally a state statute. If they hired before the 30 day window they would be in violation of the law. Could be sued and probably lose if a candidate thought they had not been given the opportunity to apply and probably could easily prove it. Wait the 30 days, even if it's a done deal. Happens all the time with many positions. They can interview anyone at any time during the process or not interview anyone at all. There are exceptions e.g. need to hire immediately due to an unexpected opening. The most obvious of this being a teacher resigns two day s before school opens and you need to have a certified person immediately. HHS obviously was not in that situation. The principal has the sole authority to hire with guidance form the SBDM Council.

Are you guys sure you aren't confusing posting requirements for the hiring of certified personnel versus classified personnel?

It makes no difference whether classified or certified. A school district has to notify the Chief State School Officer and they must keep record of the post. You can advertise the posting anywhere you want. KHSAA is the most obvious for coaches. They could advertise the post in the WSJ if they wanted.
