December 28, 201312 yr Can't imagine Strong going to Texas; IMO, his personality won't fit in Austin. If he leaves for anywhere, I would assume Florida.

Texas probably needs a huge, blockbuster hire. Just texted a friend from school. He's a Dean's Lister whose had a good job at a firm since 1L year and I asked him if he could confirm or deny. He said his boss personally would love him. He said he hadn't heard anything about a meeting though. This is also the kind of guy who drives 3+ hours most weekends to watch some kind of football game and follows his teams on the road if it's within a reasonable distance. I just don't see Strong being a good fit at Texas. Not that I don't think he can coach, I think he's a great coach. I just see him as a Florida guy who knows that area and relies on it as a crucial part of his success. He won't have the same networks at Texas and it could be trouble if he tries to recruit Florida, not Texas and isn't successful. One of Mack Brown's biggest undoings is the success of guys like Manziel, RGIII, Jameis Winston, and all the other Texas kids who went to other schools.

January 1, 201412 yr Author I think Franklin is a better fit for this one personally. If it were a school in the Florida area, I'd definitely say Strong.
January 1, 201412 yr I think both Charlie and Texas should at least talk. As a Card fan I want a coach that others want. That means we are successful. As for a good fit for Texas I would like to see Briles or Kingsberry. Both I think can recruit the state and will bring a fast offense to the Longhorns.
