December 18, 201312 yr Vegas odds have him as the best shot to take the Texas job. I'm really surprised by this. Not saying that I think Strong wouldn't do well, just that there's a better chance of him taking it than anyone else (according to Vegas). He's a Florida guy with Florida roots, and was born in Arkansas.
December 18, 201312 yr I would bet the chances are slim to none that Strong is offered the Texas job.
December 20, 201312 yr Author I would bet the chances are slim to none that Strong is offered the Texas job. Personally, I agree there's little chance. That said, the folks in the desert usually know a thing or two.

The top few candidates are not expected to leave their jobs; thus, the reason he would be the betting favorite.
December 20, 201312 yr Saw a funny tweet the other day that was along the lines of "UK fans have fired/hired Charlie Strong 10 times since he's been at Louisville." :lol2:
December 21, 201312 yr Don't see Texas being interested in Strong, atleast early on. He's got to be pretty far down the list. Strong is known to recruit Miami, not TX and a lot of folks think there is some shady in him....ie the Asst that got UM in trouble with the NCAA. I'm still thinking Les Miles, after a couple of others turn them down.

December 21, 201312 yr I have no clue, but something pulls at me that it will be Spurrier. Only concern would be he won't be a longtimer, 5 years at most. Like most, I think Strong will wait for Florida.
December 21, 201312 yr Author Just to be clear, I started this thread because I was really surprised Vegas gave him the best odds. Makes me think they might know something everyone else doesn't. From Kentucky and live in Texas now, and I've not seen much out of the camps on either side really talking about him being a serious candidate, so when he pops up as the favorite for it in Vegas, it's striking.

December 21, 201312 yr Does Charlie want to do all the PR stuff the Texas job requires? You almost have to be a CEO as well as a head coach. From what I've heard on local talk radio, Tom Jurich has given Charlie a pass on a lot of that stuff at UL.

December 21, 201312 yr Charlie does not fit for the Texas job....Miami? Florida? Yep.... I agree and that seems to be the sense you get as to why he may not be their ideal selection. Texas needs a splash. Not saying he wouldn't be a splash on the field, but a personality splash as well.
December 22, 201312 yr The last thing UK needs right now is a new coach at UL (the caliber that Jurich would get) with a full cupboard of talent and a new level of energy... If given my choice, I'd just as soon Charlie stay.
