Chris Petersen Accepts Washington HC Job

I agree, UKMF. Peterson's name gets mentioned in many different opportunities and he takes the Washington job??

My guess is geography and minimal pressure.

Washington?

I agree with this. Some people don't want the high profile job or to be in the spotlight. Boise probably allowed him to live an easy and semi-comfortable life. The job at Washington may offer a similar role but with most likely a higher pay grade.

Same recruiting base as well. There is a comfort with that for Petersen.

Just think about the jobs that have been open and filled since Petersen has been a hot commodity. Washington is mind-boggling, regardless of location or recruiting relationships.

His name came up with USC and I believe the reports were they passed on him. I wish he would of held out for one more year because I think he would of been an interesting fit at Florida.

I think this year was the year he was ready to make a change. Kids are transitioning to new schools. I am surprised that USC passed on him and chose Sarkisian.

or Texas

It's simple, Boise State is done. He should have cashed in while he had the chance and while he was "hot". Once the Bronco's fell off a little bit his stock nose dived, hence why he's now at Washington and not somewhere else. Should have jumped while he had the chance.

I can see the same thing happening to Shaka Smart in basketball if he doesn't take a job in the next couple of years or if VCU drops off.

OK, who is next on the carousel at Boise?

I'd bet they rehire Dan Hawkins.

I don't know that his profile has taken a hit at all. Keep in kind that there are also reports that Peterson was in negotiations with USC and he turned them down because of the AD.

Maybe Boise goes away, maybe not- but they still get a ton of TV exposure and are in a very winnable conference, so time will tell.

Peterson will reportedly be one of the highest paid coaches in the conference and he takes over a team that finished 8-4 in the second toughest conference in the country. It is a solid gig, IMO.
