November 30, 201312 yr Advent starts tomorrow. Just wondering if it is recognized where you go to church? If your answer is yes, how is it recognized? I go to a Methodist church and advent is recognized with a scripture reading and the lighting of 1 of the candles on the advent wreath on each of the Sundays preceding Christmas.

From childhood, my family has sung that before dinner every day of advent (in addition to lighting the appropriate candle(s) on the advent wreath).

Father talked about how everyone should have an Advent wreath, and low and behold this afternoon my mother-in-law brought one down to the house.

December 8, 201312 yr Had and an Advent/Christmas feel good moment this week. Wanted to share with my BGP peeps but did not know which thread. Getslow's Christmas Thread or kygirl's Advent Thread? :idunno: I was at Aldi's and a much older gentleman was behind me in line with a dozen pointsettia plants in his cart. He said he was going to donate them to St. Henry church. He said his wife died 2 years ago. She loved Christmas. This is what he does to honor her. I just tried to swallow that big ole lump in my throat.....
