Had and an Advent/Christmas feel good moment this week.

Wanted to share with my BGP peeps but did not know which thread. Getslow's Christmas Thread or kygirl's Advent Thread? :idunno:

I was at Aldi's and a much older gentleman was behind me in line with a dozen pointsettia plants in his cart. He said he was going to donate them to St. Henry church. He said his wife died 2 years ago. She loved Christmas. This is what he does to honor her.

I just tried to swallow that big ole lump in my throat.....

St. Francis of Assisi in the Louisville Highlands this morning. I've stayed away from that church for years but all in all, a pretty good job this morning. Gave us some really nice hymns including "Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming" and an English translation of "Conditor Alme Siderum" which was really beautiful.

Sounds like a wonderful service!

Thanks for the advice, but I think I will just make one. I am wanting the long pillar candles about 3"x9" and I can't find any. Plus it looks like it will just be cheaper to make one, since it's just a wreath and 4 or 5 candles.

Not on topic, but hey, what on BGP ever stays on topic? I'm planing on buying a folding prie dieu, unless someone near NKY can build one or knows of someone who can, as I want it a little taller than the standard 31"/32".

A who what?

Also, maybe someone can help me on this Advent wreath project.

Where can you find one of those candle holders that are round and for 4 candles? Where you just stick the bottom of the candle onto? I'll just get artificial garland and build a wreath around it.

It has to be the kind that you stick into the bottom of the candle, as I am not sure what size of candles I am getting. I want pillars, but the larger the candle the price skyrockets on the brass followers, so I am thinking between 2" - 2 1/2". Thanks!

Today is the third Sunday of Advent. The pink candle was lit to symbolize going from expectation to celebration of the birth of Jesus.

Not a Christmas song, so it goes in your thread, kygirl, not mine... :lol2:

Heard this one again this morning at mass. That makes three for three on Advent Sundays. Even the most boring Catholic churches with dull liturgical music written in 1982 seem to have this one. It would definitely be on an album of the "Church's Greatest Hits".

Fourth Sunday of Advent (December 22, 2013)

Do not be afraid, salvation is at hand.

God is about to do a mighty thing.

Joseph’s dream of God’s promise

will soon be our reality.

God’s promised Messiah will be none other than Emmanuel,

God with us.

We light the fourth Advent candle

in hope of the coming of Emmanuel,

God in the flesh.

God’s healing of human brokenness

comes by way of God taking on human flesh.

Light the candle

Come, Lord Jesus.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Amen.
