Wonder if the adult had been drinking and if that helped play a part in it.

I just found out that the person that the Somerset player went after had previously been ejected from the field area for taunting the Somerset players. Instead of leaving he moved over near the ambulances and returned to the field area at the end of the game. So it does not appear that this was an innocent bystander. Again, an example of why fans and parents should not be on the field until the teams have completed postgame activities.

If this is verified, New Cath should ban the fan from New Cath athletic games for a year. That will put some muscle behind their other actions on fan behavior.

Kids get upset, particularly when you lose by a point in a state semifinal game and its the last game you played. Raw emotion is what makes the game great. Even the most ruthlessly disciplined football programs lose their cool. It does always seem to be the winner that is writing about the behavior of the loser, which may be one of their "spoils" by right. I don't think there is anything to see here.

Incidentally, Bardstown and Somerset have a lot of family connections for some reason and the thicket bunnies have been here several times and I've never noticed anything but quality out of program and fans alike.

I have never seen anything out of the way from Somerset kids, in any venue.

Is anybody going to call out the ADULT NewCath fan who, as it sounds to me, provoked this incident? I'd sure like to know.

We have a school board meeting tonight, and I will be bring this topic up. Will report back after the meeting.

Remember an Adult can be a 22 year old. Does not absolve someone from wrong behavior but is a different dynamic than a 52 year old.

Is anybody going to call out the ADULT NewCath fan who' date=' as it sounds to me, provoked this incident? I'd sure like to know.[/quote'] I kind of agree with Frank two post below yours. Hopefully NCC will give him a ban for a year or two. Also banning him from the state finals, maybe that will cool the guy off. True, NCC can't really prevent the guy from attending the finals, but they could tell him if he is there he will then be banned from all NCC events for life, I'm sure that will get his attention as well.

But having said that, every school has people like this guy, it doesn't effect my opinion on the entire fan base or school.

I'm curious as to who told you this. (PM me) I'm told no one was kicked out, however they were told to "shut up", and that comes from someone who was near those in question the 2nd half.

]So an adult provoked the situation?[/b] That's nice.

young adults 21-22 yrs old.

BINGO, we have a winner.

After talking to 3 different people who were on the sidelines Friday night for the game, 2 NewCath grads and one a neutral observer, a couple of recent NewCath grads and the Somerset player in question were exchanging "harmless football pleasantries" during the halftime warm-ups. This all stopped after the 2nd half started, however, when the final outcome was realized one of these "idiots" said something to this young man that set him "over the edge" and thus we have the beginning of this thread.

IMO, both parties are guilty, however I hold my fellow NewCath grads to a higher standard......."No your role and SHUT YOUR MOUTH" if you're down that close to the field. You are only a few years removed from being on that field and you know that emotions are running high, especially in a game of this magnitude.

Hopefully EVERYONE can learn something from this incident and we can move, because both fan bases have great fans who have mutual respect for one another, but it only takes a few to ruin it for all of us.

Also, the issue about fans on the sidelines was addressed late Friday evening and I think next year you will only see "necessary" personnel with sideline passes on the field.

Maybe NCC shouldn't allow fans down by the bench.

Wish you had, I'd like to have met you!

I was planning on going but lost track of time listening to the Collins game.

I will if I knew who it was? :D

Maybe NCC shouldn't allow fans down by the bench.

I'm guilty of standing on the sidelines from time to time, however I would NEVER open my mouth. I think it would be a good practice to make all fans park their rears in the seats.
