Maybe fans shouldn't be allowed at all and everyone can just watch on the internet.:arghh: Kidding of course, but really, this stuff is not new. It has been going on for years. It is football for crying out loud. That great AMERICAN SPORT. To all the kids growing up and have been handed a trophy for loosing because everyone gets a trophy, well guess what, NOT EVERYONE GETS A TROPHY. Your 17, 18 years old you don't get a trophy. In the 50's, 60's, 70's and maybe 80's, there were fights in the parking lot and rocks thrown at the team bus, but it never became a major incident. Move on. Life is more than a high school football game. AND THAT ESPECIALLY GOES FOR THE ADULTS.

BINGO. If you don't have a LEGITAMATE reason related to the game to be on the field then your behind belongs in the stands. At best you just get on the way. At worst you affect what is happening on the field.

Glad to hear this issue was resolved. Whether they were 22 or 52, those adults needed to be spoken to so they remember who they are representing when they let things get out of hand. I'm sure they got the message.

I'm curious as to who told you this. (PM me) I'm told no one was kicked out, however they were told to "shut up", and that comes from someone who was near those in question the 2nd half.

BINGO, we have a winner.

 

After talking to 3 different people who were on the sidelines Friday night for the game, 2 NewCath grads and one a neutral observer, a couple of recent NewCath grads and the Somerset player in question were exchanging "harmless football pleasantries" during the halftime warm-ups. This all stopped after the 2nd half started, however, when the final outcome was realized one of these "idiots" said something to this young man that set him "over the edge" and thus we have the beginning of this thread.

 

IMO, both parties are guilty, however I hold my fellow NewCath grads to a higher standard......."No your role and SHUT YOUR MOUTH" if you're down that close to the field. You are only a few years removed from being on that field and you know that emotions are running high, especially in a game of this magnitude.

 

Hopefully EVERYONE can learn something from this incident and we can move, because both fan bases have great fans who have mutual respect for one another, but it only takes a few to ruin it for all of us.

 

Also, the issue about fans on the sidelines was addressed late Friday evening and I think next year you will only see "necessary" personnel with sideline passes on the field.

 

I'm 99% certain I know the NCC grads that were involved. From what I was told it was just jawing back and forth between them, which obviously escalated after the game ended. I won't disclose who they were, but I agree, this should end having alumni on the sideline.

This would have nothing to do with everyone getting a trophy. There is a lot of behavior that was acceptable behavior in the 50, 60, 70, 80 and even 90s that isn't now. So it is perfectly ok for a school to throw rocks at an opposing team's bus? It is perfectly acceptable behavior to throw down in the parking lot?

 

As a former player who was in some heated games (like many here I am sure) here is my 2 cents on it. It is myself and my teammates that have been practicing, playing, taking the beating and have been handing it out. If you were on the field and want to say something then you have a right because it was you that stepped between those lines. Some fan or parent who wants to run their mouth and but didn't sacrifice anything in that game needs to shut up and step away.

Fans should NEVER say anything directly to an opposing player on the field, on the court, wherever. These are HIGH SCHOOL kids for crying out loud! Some of them might only be 14 or 15 years old. Root for your team, even boo the refs on a bad call. But don't denigrate high school kids, it's completely juvenile and low class and embarrassing for the other fans and the school they are there to represent. This should go without saying.
