Wayne County held Central to 31 total yards of offense. Impressive.

Wow. Will be interesting to see how Wayne County takes care of business in the next round. Sometimes when teams haven't been there before they become complacent and just happy to be there. Not taking anything away from Wayne County because they've earned it, but they have to keep preparing as if there's still LOTS of work to be done.

Before tonight Central was 28-1 in the playoffs since 2006

 

This was Central's earliest exit since 2006, and only their 2nd loss to a 3A team in that time.

No doubt, 31 yards of offense is unreal.

Wayne has been known for their offense all year. I have watched them play most of their games and even though the offense is very good, the defense is better. One of the hardest hitting teams I have ever saw in high school anywhere.

I have to admit, I am a little bit bummed out that Central lost.

 

As a Belfry fan, there is a part of me that really wants that shot at Central if we are lucky enough to get past a really tough Bourbon County team next week. Losing to them 4 straight times in the finals (2007, '10, '11, '12) has a way of fueling the fire in your belly.

 

That said, any time you are lucky enough to make it to the championship game you are happy, no matter who you play. I wish Wayne County all the best next week, would love to see you guys make it there. Hopefully, my Pirates will be there waiting, but if not, a Wayne Co vs. Bourbon Co final would be a blast to watch.
