Congratulations to HHS, they have a great team. Just don't understand the lack of class by a team who is the bell cow of NKY and is on their way to their 7th straight championship.

It's called excellence in coaching, excellence in a feeder program (probably one of the best), and excellence in community support. When a team has all three of these things consistently over time, it's going to happen.

Pot meet kettle. Get tired of this nonsense each and every year. If you think CCH is a bunch of choir boys in every sport then you are sadly mistaken. This certainly goes both ways for sure.

With all due respect to this statement, some of the Bluebirds were getting overtly out of control at times, but this may have been precipitated by some dirty Blueboys. I thought for sure they would flag Wrobleski for his gesture on the CCH sideline. I am glad they missed it.

I did see where Harris was complaining to the refs about #15 for apparently ripping off his helmet after one of the wildcat formations in the red zone.

It amazes me every year there is at least one or two flags thrown when HHS D tackles someone on the CovCath sideline. The guy behind called it when it happened. At least it was a duel call this year.

Can't fault effort tonight! NKY still think the blue boys are overhyped? They played a great game tonight! We would have not expected anything less! Birds finish strong!!!

Couldn't figure out if CCH's defense was that good or Highlands just had an off night throwing the ball.

For goodness sakes' date=' the Birds put up 27 on Elder. 28 against Cov Cath who they absolutely destroyed offensively a couple months ago just doesn't make a whole lot o' sense.[/quote']

I'll wait to see the stats, but I don't think Houliston had the terrible night throwing the ball that you are describing. The short passing game was just fine. Several completions to Green early. Hergott and Hoge had many catches out of the slot. Didn't hit the home run ball that we have become accustomed to seeing, but double digit completions and a couple hundred yards would be my guess.

The Highlands offense put up 28 against a very good CovCath defense. Worked on the clock the entire fourth quarter with the 2 drives they had. Don't think they threw a single pass in the fourth quarter as at that point with a 3 score lead melting away the clock was more important than putting up stats.

I guess if you don't score on every drive, don't throw for 400 yards and 5 TD"S, and get a running clock - you had a bad night. I choose to give the credit to the opponent. CCH played well defensively.

It was his worst game that i have seen. Not saying he was awful or anything just not what i was used to seeing. Credit that to CCH. Nice win for HHS

Sounds like a score was closer than expected.

For some, others expected a good contest after seeing what CCH did to JC.

Great season for the Blueboys after rebounding back from such adversity all yr with injuries.

Zack Harris was a man last nite and is the John Riggins of KY HS football...CovCath did a nice job not allowing Highlands to set the tempo...

Highlands displayed great defensive assignment discipline on the football field last nite. CovCath tried multiple times to pull and suck the DB's in but it didnt happen. Hicks makes a monster play late in the game when he sniffs out the reverse which appeared to be a sure td. Grandpa Skip had to have given him an A+ on that play.:thumb:

Man, the noise of some of those hits last nite are just chilling...:scared: Both teams played their hearts out and left it on the field.

Time to get ready for the Lexington Catholics:thumb:

For the record, I never said Houliston had a "terrible" night. For the record, I never said Houliston had a "bad" night. Not sure why you're using such inflammatory rhetoric to spin my posts, but I think we all received the answer as to why the Birds had limited offensive output. It was b/c of the supposed additions to the Cov Cath defense. It was 7, right?

Collins is waiting. :D

Evenly matched teams. Coaching and clock management won this game. The end of the first half was a perfect example of how not to call an offense. Then, on 4 th and. 2 with 9:28 to go and down 22, CC punts? You are down 3 scores??? You aren't going to get the ball 3 more times w Harris running behind that line. I was confused, but happy that it was the other sideline making those calls. Also, Highlands ability to execute and keep it simple really is fun to watch when you see CovCath continually try to out think themselves. Really makes you appreciate the way Mueller and Weinrich call a game.

Houliston had an off night. He missed some wide open receivers and the receivers also dropped a few they usually catch. Harris was the bell cow tonight. He was running the ball hard and punishing the CovCath defenders coming up to tackle him.

The wind was blowing between 10 - 15 mph and some of Drew's passes sailed into the wind. Harris played very well and you could tell he was slightly slower than when he is completely healthy. Very gutty performance.
