Highlands 28 Covington Catholic 13

I guess the good news is Highlands should expect to see weaker teams over the next couple weeks. I know ya still gotta play em and win em but it's a shame it never comes down to the two best teams in the finals. Play it out Birds.

Agreed. They missed several throws including 2-3 wide open screens passes.

Maybe it was the wind.....excuse #1

Game started out getting very chippy. Ref finally called a personal foul on Highlands and things settled down. Both coaches showed good sportsmanship at the end of the game, Highlands by taking a knee and Cov Cath by not calling timeout. Overall well played game by the Birds. They still have to get by a good Lex Cath team on their home field. Good Luck next week. Go Birds!

They'll play a Lex Cath team with a QB that will give them trouble. He can pass.

What was with big 76 saddling up Wrobleski tonight?

Seriously? blowout city the rest of the way. Tonight's win may technically advance the Birds but only winning by 15 to a hobbled colonel team isn't much to write home about.

I expect a couple of blowouts to finish the proverbial state championshipmruns out.

If Cov Cath would've had any halfway decent passing game, this game would have been a toss up. They have some great athletes on that squad. Next year may be their year for sure.

So the Highlands secondary will struggle next week?

For goodness sakes, the Birds put up 27 on Elder. 28 against Cov Cath who they absolutely destroyed offensively a couple months ago just doesn't make a whole lot o' sense.

Baloney. How so defensively speaking?

Houliston had an off night. He missed some wide open receivers and the receivers also dropped a few they usually catch. Harris was the bell cow tonight. He was running the ball hard and punishing the CovCath defenders coming up to tackle him.

Feggins' mom kept yelling for him to change into his old gloves. Momma knows best, I suppose.

All around the state, passing suffered with cold, windy conditions. That is a reality even on Sunday games. Congrats to the Birds and great season IMHO for the Blue Colonels with so much injury-related adversity. Numero 7 in a row is Black Friday and another week away!
