January 31, 201412 yr Well, if that's the case, then I think Highlands gets the number 1 seed because they have only lost 3 (2 to Campbell County, 1 to Gray) and I know Campbell County has lost at least that many (2 to Highlands, 1 to Holmes, and also to Gray. I am assuming they lost to Gray because Gray had only lost two games as of last week, to Twenhofel and Scott Co.). So if Highlands has only lost 3, the makeup game against Twenhofel on Friday takes on a lot of meaning, right? Campbell beat Gray. Gray has lost 4 games counting tournaments and out of district games, overall record is 19-4 with last game tonight @ Conner. Lost to Scott Co. and Southern Pulaski (in overtime), Campbell Co, (Twenhofel or Turkeyfoot) can't remember which one? All loses back in November.

The tourney in Dayton would not count due to that event not being a scheduled event through the school league.
February 1, 201412 yr Highlands traveled to Twenhofel tonight and won 50-42 in 7th grade boys action. Highlands finishes the regular season at 21-3. Big win on the road vs a good team.
February 1, 201412 yr You can only count the games played through the league. The tourney in Dayton would not count due to that event not being a scheduled event through the school league. Conner 7th grade boys beat Gray tonight. This group is wide open for a champion come regionals. Highlands is the top of the class right now, but Campbell County is good, Twenholfel if they play Sergent the whole game can be very good. Woodlands is talented too. On any given night any of these teams can beat another. Add in this group IHM, St. Pius, Ockerman, and Camp Ernst. The next two weeks should be fun to watch for 7th grade. 6th grade Conner is hands down the best. 8th grade seems to be St. Pius at this time
February 1, 201412 yr So it looks like the district seeding in Campbell County goes like this.... 1. Campbell County 2. Highlands 3. Sharp 4. Newport 5. Holmes. This comes as a shock to almost everyone, and it looks like maybe the top spot wasn't the best place to be.... I would be interested to hear what the other district seedings look like, for all three grades boys and girls, but I would be remiss if I didn't repeat how insane I think this is that this is all a mystery, information that is not shared during the season... its the only league I've ever heard of where it was impossible to find standings or records....
February 1, 201412 yr Im very surprised Holmes is the 5 seed in 7th grade boys. They have a great 3 pt shooter and a big with soft hands and nice touch. Their coach is Also very demanding. I believe Holmes beat CC during the regular season so the rematch should be a dandy. Looking forward to catching hands This week at HMS.
February 1, 201412 yr Yeah I think Campbell County definitely got the boobie prize by being the first seed... Holmes is gonna be a tough out.... Other startling news out of the Boone County district, 7th grade... Conner loses to Tichenor, then comes back and beats Gray, holding Gray to 21 points! Gray must be very inconsistent offensively, because most nights I think Rankin puts up 20 by himself, but they've now lost at least 4 games (Twenhofel, Campbell County, Scott County and Conner), so try to make sense of that.... should be an interesting regional, with any of 7 or 8 teams having a shot....

I like the chances of the Bluebirds playing at home. CC has a nice mix of bigs and the 2 guards in Jolly and Wilson. Gray has Rankin and Bromwell and they can seriously dominate the inside if they want. Against Highlands though, I saw several minutes where they disappear. Conner is very solid and fundamentally sound. They can knock off a good team as well. I have yet to hear about Turkeyfoot though and I hear they are very good.

An he is heck of a player! Not sure of there team though. I like HMS 7th grade team to do some damage in the dist an reg. They can beat any team out there!
February 2, 201412 yr Author [quote=kyag;4932969 6th grade Conner is hands down the best. 8th grade seems to be St. Pius at this time Hands down???? I saw them play earlier this year. They have a couple of little guards that handle the ball very well and shoot well. They are good. There are at least 4 or 5 teams that are as good as they are. You have to remember that a lot of MS teams play their entire roster in games during the regular season. In the tourney, bench shortens and you win to advance. Some games may turn out differently than they did in the season.
February 2, 201412 yr Stinky, Who else do you have competing for the sixth grade regional championship?
February 2, 201412 yr In the seventh grade boys, I think a lot of teams have a chance. Highlands, gray, Campbell County, Conner, Twenhofel, Holmes, IHM, st. Pius all can win on any given night... I would give slight advantage to highlands and gray. In 8th grade, it looks like conner's to lose from games I've seen.
February 2, 201412 yr On the girls side, 6th grade could be any of Campbell county, summit view, Conner or highlands. Ockerman (Scherr) and twenhofel (Jones) have two of the region's best players, so I wouldn't count them out. Girls 7th is a two horse field- either Conner or highlands will win the region. Girls 8th should be competitive, IHM, Conner, highlands, all have a legitimate shot at the region...
February 2, 201412 yr Brackets are out for all grades. IN 7th Boys. District 1 @ Ockerman RA Jones Vs Grant Co winner to play Gray Ockerman vs Camp Ernst District 2 @ IHM Ludlow vs Tichenor winner to play Conner IHM vs St. Pius District 3 @Summit View Summit View vs Beechwood winner to play Turkeyfoot Twenhofel vs Woodland Distict 4 @Highlands Sharp vs Newport winner to play Campbell Co Highlands vs Holmes My thoughts on these District Tournaments. District 1 will likely see Camp Ernst and Gray advancing to the Regional. District 2 will showcase a huge 1st round game in a loser goes home match. IHM vs St. Pius. I think St. Pius recently won by 2 points. Matchup of two very good bigs in Coldiron and Thelen. I see IHM exacting revenge at home and advancing to play Conner in the finals. Conner and IHM advance. District 3 showcases another great 1st round loser goes home game with Twenhofel vs Woodland. Turkefoot will likely play Woodland in the finals, just my prediction. Turkeyfoot and Woodland advance. District 4 will showcase the Birds at home again vs Holmes. They beat the Bulldogs 2 weeks ago and led most of the game. I expect them to take care of business and play the Camels in the Finals. Birds and Camels advance. Edited February 2, 201412 yr by Qryche11
February 3, 201412 yr ...... Championship of the Panther Classic for 3rd Grade Boys is tomorrow night with two St Paul teams facing off. Mary Queen, St Agnes, St Pius, Blessed Sacrament, and IHM all had teams represented. The big St Pius tourney starts next weekend. Fun time of year.
