Will this be the year that no NKY team wins a State Championship?

Featured Replies

IMVHO, if NewCath makes it to the finals, it will be a "tall task" for the Breds to repeat. CAL, Caldwell Co., & DeSales look mighty tough..........But you can beat your donkey I'm pullin' for 'em. :ylsuper:

I think you meant "bet", but yours is funnier.

Me too! Pulling for Beechwood as well as all the NKY teams as well as a few around the NKY area.

No but the ones I responded to are. And for the record, this isn't a Highlands thread. What about the other classifications. Will any other NKY team win a State Championship?

Didn't YOU start this thread with Highlands mentioned in the first line??? Who's sensitive now?

To answer your question, no. NCC has the best chance, but they have a VERY good team in their path.

Ok, I've seen neither play, so I can only rely on those who have,, can beechwood beat Frankfort?

First - I also started the first sentenced with the word "I" but this thread isn't about me either.

Second - I agree.

Eagle, you fell for the oldest trick in the book. After last 2weeks now the state has doubt and getting overconfident about playing Birds. Let me just say that anyone who thinks highlands is weak will be let down now that the games count it's time to step on the gas and take cruise control off. I believe like others have previously said that there is always a "method to Dale's madness," if you will. They will make necessary adjustments to win.

I think you meant "bet", but yours is funnier.

"BEAT" the clock and was able to edit in time. :dancingpa

Beechwood is not a lock to beat Frankfort and would have a tall task in Mayfield. NCC is not a lock to come out of the East by any means and winning it all would be very difficult. Highlands is not a lock to win State but is the favorite. SK has a chance but it would not be probable. So to answer your question.......Yes this could be the year NKY does not win a championship.

Shows what I know, I just wrote it off as a Catholic thing that I didn't know about and just kept reading.

Amazing!!!!! I would say BG and HHS are by far the biggest locks to win state..

I agree 100%

My take:

1A: Will be tough for Beechwood to win as Mayfield stands in the way, but definetly do able. Obviously if they can get past Mayfield, no way they don't win the title.

2A: I think Newcath gets to the state championship and runs in to a tough Caldwell Co team that wants revenge from last year. Newcath is capable of winning but will be an underdog.

4A: Highlands rolls with no games within 2 touchdowns. Quote me on that if you'd like.

5A: As much as I'd like to see a similar run that Cooper made last year, I just don't see either Scott or Conner being able to repeat that performance. My guess is the furthest either makes it is the region finals where they lose to either South Oldham or Anderson Co. I like Conner's chances a little better than Scott's, simply because they are more balanced.

6A: Either Dixie or Simon Kenton will have a favorable draw as their toughest game likely wouldn't come until the semi finals against McCracken County which will be a tough game but definetly winnable. Still, I don't see either beating Scott Co, Trinity, or St X in the finals. I think SK would have the best chance simply because they are more balanced with Kuntz. I do like Dixie's run game better, however, and ability to control the clock with Washington, Moore, Caple, and Owens.

In short, Highlands is the only team that I see winning a state title but I don't think it's out of the question that we see 3 teams in the state title game. (Highlands, Newcath, and SK/Dixie)

Ok, I've seen neither play, so I can only rely on those who have,, can beechwood beat Frankfort?

I haven't seen Frankfort so I don't know. Here are three things that make me say you should be asking can Frankfort beat Beechwood?

1. Common Opponent Comparison - Franklin Co. 51 Frankfort 36; Franklin Co. 28 Beechwood 24 - Beechwood leading in the fourth quarter and gives up two scores to lose the game. Common opponent comparison gives the edge to Beechwood.

2. 2012 - A very talented 11-1 Frankfort team faces 8-4 Beechwood with many thinking this is the year for Frankfort. Final score Beechwood 35 Frankfort 13.

3. History - Frankfort has not only never beaten Beechwood, they haven't been within 3 TD's of a win versus Beechwood.

Now, all that being said, can Frankfort beat Beechwood? Yes, I think they can. If both play their best game, my guess - and that is just what it is, an educated guess - is Beechwood would win.

Only one....here are your winners

Mayfield

Caldwell co

Central

Highlands

BG

St.X

NKY is a mortal lock to get one. Highlands will win 4A. I really can't imagine a scenario it doesn't happen.

I think NKY is closer to getting two than zero titles, as Beechwood and NewCath both have shots. Neither are the favorites, but if things fall the right way in one game for either, you have the area's second title winner.

And whoever comes out of NKY in 6A at least has a pretty good chance to make the title game. I can't see any way whichever that school is wins the title game, but you can't win it if you don't get there.

My guess is NKY has three schools in the finals, Highlands, NCC, and a 6A school.

When was the last time NKY didn't get one?
