After researching all of this and thinking about it all I have a theory about what happened. There have been some racial undertones to all of this, a lot of it by the media and instigated by Martin that Icognito was some kind of bigot that found a victim to bully. I do not buy that was the case. You have heard from some "sources" as echoed by teammates that they believed Icognito was "more of a black guy than Martin." I truly believe this is at the crux of it all. I am not black so I cannot speak to this, I only go by what I see, hear pundits convey, and by what I read on BGP. Sometimes in black culture (and please correct me if I am wrong), black people of more affluent statuses are looked down upon by their black contemporaries, feeling they "are not black enough". From all I gather the locker room culture can be rough and rugged. Martin, a guy that has always just played but not loved football, could no longer stand being entrenched within an uncomfortable environment because there were not many he could relate to. Some of that is on him for not adapting and embracing, but this is also the classic kid that got picked on in school because he had no other friends. He was Private Santiago. I do not think Jessup (i.e. Philbin) called for Icognito to pick on him the way it has been portrayed. It was an easy scapegoat because of Icognito's past and his barbaric behavior. I think it was calculated on Martin's part, but he did not anticipate the backlash from teammates. However he should have, because that was the predominate group he had the biggest issue with and they see right through it. Am I far off base? In summary I believe Martin was indirectly bullied by the locker room culture and picked on by many because he was different racially and socioeconomically.

No one is sticking up for him. But that incident has nothing to do with the current one. I've said in every post the man is a jerk. But the way Martin handled it was just as bad. I'm sorry if you are grown man the only way you get picked on is if you allow it. The only way someone makes you pay a tab is if you allow it.

 

I'm sorry people can disagree with me all they want. As a society we have got way to soft. We always want to find mental reason for an issue or look at the "psychological" aspect of the bullying. At the end of the day not every event is that complicated.

 

Richie is a bad human being by all accounts I can read. But it does not excuse the fact Martin is softer than ceral thats been sitting in milk for an hour.

I stayed neutral on this because there were so many conflicting reports. After seeing that, Incognito should be gone. From where, I'm not sure. Dolphins, NFL, Earth...undecided.
