I can see how that would be "toughing someone up", but some of that stuff went way beyond that. Big difference in giving a guy a hard time and mentally/psychologically abusing him.

Dude bullied a 300 pound NFL offensive lineman. Threatened him. Sorry I can't muster any outrage. This wasn't Private Santiago or Rosa Parks who couldn't defend themselves. Is Incognito a bad guy, sure, but this is so over-the-top. He didn't assault him, hit him with his helmet, or pound beers, get drunk, and run him down. This whole thing is much ado about nothing and that is why NFL players past and present are yawning. Want to see me sideways, show me a dude hitting a woman -- there is a guy who deserves an Incognito house-call. Wake me up when Incognito is starting at guard for someone else. You want a topic to chew on for 3 pages: imagine the lack of coverage on this if Richie was black and the "bullied victim" was white. Would have been over by Monday afternoon. With that said, 95% of this doesn't get me too excited. The racial aspect does but I need some context and background. Reports today said that the same email that is being used to nail Incognito was the same voicemail that Martin took around after it happened and laughed while he shared it with other Dolphins. November 7, 201312 yr I think Martin is an easy target and IMO comes across as light on his feet if you get my drift. I think Incognito bullied him and may have been a friend in some capacity whether it was because they shared the same position or whatever but he clearly was bullying him. I also think the coaching staff was privy to this behavior and should be held accountable. Martin getting up and leaving the cafeteria like a big baby is ridiculous. I would have just taken my tray and planted it on Incognito's noggin and then shanked his arse with a fork. LOL
November 7, 201312 yr Yeah the more than comes out the more it seems like Martin may be a pretty emotional guy who let his emotions finally get to him and break him down. Incognito done some bad things and a lot of his actions were wrong. But it's also clear Martin could have took a page from Marcus Aurelius and the whole roman stoicism point of view. He's in a profession you have to stay tough, keep a poker face and take everything in stride. Unfortunately like everything else is this country/society it is gettitn way too soft. Not saying that bullying is right because I'm totally against it but the more that comes out the more I think this situation may have been an overreaction due to uncontrolled emotions. Have to keep those in check, especially in that profession.
