Are you counting the one that was such a good throw that it hit the receiver in the face mask and bounced 10 feet in the air and was intercepted in the end zone, a drop?

Hergott dropped a beautiful ball that was dropped right over his shoulder when he was 8 yards behind the defense. Allen then dropped one right in the front corner of the end zone. Allen eventually ended that drive with a TD on an end around.

 

If the end zone one is the third, that's Feggins where it came through and hit him on the facemask, and would be the only one on a drive that Highlands did not score on. So the case could be made for 78-69.

Yea, we talked about that at the game. I think all the dropped touchdowns ended in TDs anyway...except for the face mask one. I was just trying to be funny. Wasn't really trying to say the score should have been worse. Just thought that one was kinda funny!

I dont recall, but I assume WC scored after the int. So if we are splitting hairs I guess 78-62 might have been more like it...

Beware of the "emotional letdown syndrome", just because you scored 69 on Highlands and re-wrote record books don't forget that great teams don't just do it once in a while, they do it all the time, so if you can repeat the offensive performance for 5 more weeks anything is possible...:thumb:

Forgive me if I'm wrong since I was in Lexington that night but I did watch the Hudl replay and if all of the said above happened the way it did, wouldn't it have been a running clock and this game is "Over"? Not to sure HHS would of scored 78 and I know WC wouldn't have scored 69. Wasn't the score 42-7 at one point in the 2nd quarter? That's pretty darn close to a running clock.

 

I am not quite sure when these drops took place because I was closely watching the D breakdown by HHS and the Hudl replay doesn't show the clock but I think this game doesn't get past the 2 hour mark with a running clock and this thread is only like 4 pages......Just a serious question and if I'm wrong then I'm wrong.

Had they scored on the one that became an end zone INT, it would have been 55-21 with a made extra point. Even with that score, at no point moving forward would Highlands have been up 36, provided everything else played out the same.

Three of them were not touchbacks. The first one Highlands kicked to the corner and was mishandled, so WC started on their own 12. There were two in the second quarter, one was returned to the 21, the other the 43. Every other kick was in the end zone, most of them very deep.

 

Believe it or not, I saw an onside returned just last year. Southwestern tried an onside kick on the opening kickoff and Rondell Green (#6) returned it. Central was up by 7 something like 6 seconds into the game.

No to your first question. 9 of 12 touchbacks according to KHSAA and one in the second half that hit the crossbar. Do you get points for that? and yes to your second question.

Thanks for the clarification. It's hard to follow IMO on HUDL. Especially if there are plays missing that a coach missed to load up on the server. Thanks again!

I have seen it a few times at the high school and pee wee level.

Shoot, in retrospect maybe HHS should have tried a few onside kicks. They may have got some back and it certainly didn't matter where WC was starting on the field. :)

I honestly think that's exactly why WC tried so many! It didn't matter where HHS started either! It was more like take a chance and if I don't get it, at least I get the ball back sooner!!
