I wondered the same thing, apparently they had a Special Board Meeting to perform a presentation on the State Test Scores and did not have the current happenings on the agenda.

 

Sidebar: Their test scores were next to last in NEKY.

 

And....there is what I was meaning in my last post. Actually, as I had said earlier, with their handling of the entire thing, honesty and in the manner in which they do things a job in the current President's administration. Those test scores would qualify.

Yep, i guess he was their 5th year senior as the ncaa calls it. Trouble is we are not talking about the NCAA, if so then I guess that the W.VA kids brought in would be the "walk ons". Even with that, Fairview could have been busted by the NCAA - the clothing, FHS sweats, jackets and caps supplied to the W.VA kids would have been a no no with them. lol

 

 

 

:thumb: Anyone that knows anything about how Fairview has operated for the last 10-12 years knows this, it is nothing new. That is why that I am wondering if the khsaa is only looking into this one issue/violation or digging back through the program's many other obvious violations ?

I will say this, even though that if the khsaa does nothing else to Fairview imo would be wrong out of the association......Maybe the rest of the state outside our NEKY/EKY regions will know what has been happening in Westwood for years. Even though we are only 6or7 miles apart, if not for being in district then I am not sure if I would even consider scheduling them, even with a 33-11 series advantage. I wonder if schools in other areas or even out of district, classification schools in our area would still schedule them ?

 

 

Just jumping in this thread and don't know the whole situation, but giving clothing to high school kids isn't really something that makes my blood boil. If putting clothes on my back is something that is enough motivation to make me switch schools, especially to a school in a new state, then maybe that says something about the situation I'm leaving. If providing basic necessities that plenty of people take for granted (i.e., food, shelter, and clothing) to a kid whose a good athlete breaks the rules, it still doesn't mean that it isn't the least moral course of action in my book. I know there's a line where necessity turns into excess, but if their biggest issue is giving some clothes to a kid that would need them and wear them, then I have no beef. Just food for thought.

I don't think the issue was Fairview giving KIDS clothing, the issue brought up was giving a bunch of FAMILY MEMBERS clothing!!!

I don't know what the going rate for Super pay is, but given that the Henderson Co. school district is probably 10x larger than Fairview's, it's difficult to say who's really get a bargain and who's getting hosed.

I guess I now know where I'd cut school funding if ask . -- Just guessing but at 40 hrs a weeks that around 130.00 bucks a hour . Even if a person work 5 ten's at 50 hours a week thats huge money .

Doctorate of pharmacy earns you about 100-120K . And people complain that we are cutting money to the schools ? Evidently not in administrative pay . ( sorry for the hijack ) Back on Topic . Fairview has a foul view of Ethics .

What does helping a kid out with clothing have to do with my intelligence? If the kid can score a touchdown or make a tackle, it's probably because they've practiced doing it and have less time for a part-time job, so yes, I do see the situation somewhat differently.

 

My main point was that, if getting clothing was the thing that made them move schools, maybe that says something about the situation that they were leaving behind.

Music oversees the smallest school district in the FIVCO area and makes the second most money. Add the fact that Fairview has nearly closed on a couple of different occassions in the past 15 years and it just doesn't seem to fit.

 

By the way, alcoholic beverages were illegal in the 1920's
