I can't make it. I'm at work and then off to Russell for the Regional Volleyball tournament to watch our Lady Rams play Fairview. It should be an interesting venue.

All joking aside, this is not funny. People thought they were above the law and it appears that justice is prevailing. We will always have a friendly rivalry with Fairview but I am glad that the cleansing of the dirt is taking place.

I hate to go this far and cast ill thoughts on the whole community, but as I read this thread the question comes to mind - isn't there anyone involved at Fairview with morals and courage to stand up to the riff raff and do the right thing? With all this going on, that is the most amazing thing to me.

I can't believe that a parent or group of parents whose kids lost playing time due to illegal players didn't raise all kinds of hell prior to now. I realize they may have taken it to the Superintendent and thought things were going to get handled but after such a long period of time and nothing being done, you would think someone would've blown the top off this thing a long time ago.

As much as it pains me to defend them, there is a group of people that are big supporters of the Fairview School System that have been very unhappy with what has been going on. They are normal people, residents, former players, former coaches, and boosters. But, they really didn't have an outlet to complain to. They have complained to the coaches, superintendent, and principal, but they were labeled "trouble makers".

A text message from a Spring Valley, WV coach states that #3 Brown, who missed Fairview's game Friday, has enrolled at Spring Valley today.

 

He was already there as early as that Friday.

2 things....The first, is that there was extreme pressure placed from the powers that be to assist the players. There was bullying from the adults. I am sure that now that the ones applying pressure have been stripped of authority, the parents, kids, teachers, etc will sing. Secondly, I believe some were fascinated with the wins and the prestige that came with it. I think it actually blurred the lines for some.

The school board is where the power is in any school system. The superintendent has to answer to them. If I complained to the superintendent and got brushed aside, I would go to the school board. I would also tell the school board that if they ignore this, I will be going to the KHSAA and the state Department of Education. I just wouldn't stand for it in my community.

I agree completely. I don't know the reason, maybe they didn't want to complain in public, maybe they didn't think anything would be done, maybe they didn't want to stick their necks out that far. Got me. They will have to answer the "why".

 

This is just one of the reasons I don't think ANYONE is innocent in this matter.
