Another real sad thing about all of this is that then coach, now superintendent B. Musick and current Coach McPeek are excellent football coaches and even without the incoming out/state players with perks - Fairview football was on the rise without those kids. They were starting to compete, win more and develop pride. Who knows what could have been built there ?

That is sad. It reminds me of Barry Bonds, a sure first ballot hall of famer long before he decided to let his ego get the best of him and start using PED's now always going to be remembered for the pooster child for Steroids and HGH rather than the great player he was when he was in Pittsburgh.

 

When the coaches ego gets the best of them that is what people will always remember them for instead of what kind of coaches they were before they had to go and cheat.

I wanted to add one more thing about the players removing the decals from their helmets.

 

When this story first broke on here, I felt bad for the players that were caught in the middle and did no wrong doing etc.

After hearing about the decal thing, although it may sound cold, I don't feel one ounce of apathy for any of the players that went along with the decal removal or any of them that didn't speak up to stop the removal of decals.

 

To support wrong doing like they did, which is exactly what they are saying by their actions with the decal, they are saying they support their coach and AD for cheating and putting them in the position they now find themselves. I'm sorry but the actions the players did with the decals put them in the same dispicable pile of trash their coach put the program in imo.

 

No school loyalty and the action itself is a slap in the face of the school which is bigger than the AD and Coaches and any single player. No one is bigger than the program itself no matter what school we are talking about. Unfortunatley what was taught at Fairview was not the lessons In want my son to be taught by his coaches etc. I only hope the school board does the right thing and brings in people with integrity to replace the trash that is being put out to the curb this week.

Whatever is truth and whatever isn't I guess we will find out. With that said, removing the decals is indefensable. I could care less if they removed the decal to put a bible verse inti's place, there is no excuse for removing the decal. IF they want to support eachother and the coach there are better ways to do so than basically crapping on the school and all the players and teams that came before them.

 

They could of placed tape on the back of the helmet that said 67 brothers and still kept the decal in place.

 

No excuse and shows the bad example the coach has taught them when the school itself becomes the last thing the boys care about. If I were a former player that played for Fairview before Coach got there and saw what these boys did I'd have a hard time showing any of them any support.

Nat McPeek may be the nicest guy in the world but he knowingly and willingly broke the rules. For every action there is a consequence.
