Scheduling a game mid-season just to keep someone from breaking your record is about as Busch League as scooting your team back for a free kick to get a 60 yard field goal. The Rocks surely have more class than that! If the don't, I just became a BG fan.

Don't think BG will beat Blackman

So Blackman is undefeated. They beat Smyrna last week 28-13. Blackman is ranked 6th in TN and 119 in the nation and only beat Smyrna by that score? Smyrna is 1-3 in District play, 5-3 over all. They are ranked 29th in TN, and 1106 Nationally. You telling me BG is not good enough to beat a team probably over ranked statewide and nationally? In my best Keyshawn Johnson voice, "C'mon Man!" Save your Blackman non-sense till next week.

We're getting dangerously close to where BG has the opportunity to break our win streak. I know that we plan to try to schedule a game with them before said win streak is broken....I'm hearing it won't happen....what say you?

In all seriousness though, BG should schedule whoever they want. BG doesn't owe T anything.

Do we not have a right to try and defend it? Also, I believe I have a right to question it's merit, if they refuse to play us, in the early goings on of the '14 football season. Particularly, since we tried to schedule them that last 2-3 seasons.

Id love to see a list of all the teams T played during their streak, I'm willing to bet they played several cupcakes along the way and wouldn't be surprised if BG has tougher teams and 6A teams to boot, p,aging higher class teams and still winning.

If Mayfield, Beechwood or Hazard had a shot of beating the record would Trinity want to defend their streak by beating up on a 1A school?

Once upon a time Mayfield was ranked number one in the state by Litkenhous....Coach Dave Moore was not happy and stated someone needed to get a game set up at once.

Smyrna was ranked #9 in 6a....Blackman is #3. They both play killer schedules. BG came from behind to beat 3-5 McCallie....hardly impressive.

It's not about Trinity, it's about BG and they should schedule who ever they want the same as Trinity did when they had their streak.

Just start another streak. I think I'd worry more about winning the state championship. Not a given at all, but doable.

That is what we have been told Trinity is only concerned about.? National recognitions, rankings, etc. do not matter so I am kind of confused here why this is such a big deal since they are only concerned about what they can control? :idunno:

Love this RockPride. I remember you called out the same in 2002 vs. Boyle when they ran the streak to 47. Your veiled accusations of "worthiness" were the mantra of that day as well.

 

The truth is that no one owes Trinity anything concerning the streak. Just as Trinity never sought to schedule Paris when they closed in on their record at the time (I think that's who owned the record before Trinity. I believe it was 38 games) - why should Bowling Green, or Boyle or anyone di the Rocks a 'favor' by scheduling them to "defend" their streak??? :idunno:

 

I've always liked your insight and posts but the argument in 2002 and now both smack of pomposity to me. Just my take.
