What, you beat the Cards in a six game series and now you start acting like a Cards fan?

Gomes is awesome. Love the story about the military helmet he wears after games.

Gomes is a winner, plain and simple. If you think about the teams he has been a part of and where they were before he was there…

 

2008 - Tampa made their first playoff appearance.

2010 - Reds made first playoff appearance since 1999.

2012 - A's made first playoff appearance since 2006. 74-88 the year before.

2013- Red Sox win 97 games after only winning 69 the year before.

 

Now I know there are other factors but I don't think it's a coincidence that Gomes happened to be on all those teams who made big strides. If I'm the Royals, Halo's, etc. I over pay for a guy like Gomes he is just too valuable to a clubhouse.

 

Hats off to the Sox. Heck of a team and great season. Cards have 19 players on the roster who haven't even gotten through arbitration yet, so safe to assume they'll be back. Can't wait until February.

I think the Cards have to take a long hard look at replacing Jay and Freese as starters. I know they will get Furcal back next year but he's no spring chicken so I think they have to get at least a better backup then Kozma.

Furcal is a free agent. Freese is gone and Jay should be a backup OF. Hoping Taveres can play CF

A lot of money is coming off the books, Carp, Furcal, Beltran, and Westbrook. Plus I think Freese will be traded. They could afford to go out and get a good SS.
