If you haven't been, treat yourself to one of the greatest places to watch a game with everything that makes a HS game great!

 

Oh and buy a split the pot ticket, it could make your night even better win or lose as some of those Split the Pot winnings are huge!

Couldn't agree more oldguy. "The Pit" is an amazing place to watch a game. Believe it or not, Colerain has only played their once in our history. It is a series I would love to see us sign up for on a consistent basis. But I digress.

 

I fully expect Highlands to win this game. Elder QB Jacob(?) Ramsey (yep, the Coach's son) is only a sophomore but has progressed nicely as the season has moved along. The offense still runs through the big RB Chris Schorr (sp?). I think the line play for the Bluebirds WILL be key and their secondary will be tested both in the passing game as well as in run support.

 

Offensively, I think Highlands will mostly have their way. I don't get this Elder team is anything special defensively but even an average to above-average Elder team can be a real headache for any offense.

 

Wish I could be there to see it. If you can get a ticket and go...DO SO! You won't regret it.

Ditto those that rave about the Pit -- awesome venue.

Elder has one of the best sophomore groups ever I am hearing which includes Ramsay's son the QB. A couple other highly rated players in that class.

 

I expect this to be high scoring. Harris will have a huge game for the Birds...write it down.

The "split the pot" for the last Elder vs CCH game was over $6K. With a full house at the Pit this Friday I would expect the same.

The offensive and defensive lines of Highlands will dictate the outcome. It will mean the difference between a close win or a 3 td loss Friday night.

The only teams to "slow" the Birds offense are the teams that have been able to get pressure. No one has been successful trying to drop in coverage and defend. If the O - line + Harris can give Houliston time and space, he will pick them apart. Elder played all 11 players within 5 yards of the LOS against Winton Woods. They were slightly looser against other opponents, but still play very tight to the line. The deep ball will be on display Friday night.

 

The teams that have controlled time of possession are the ones that have had the most success against the Birds defense. Not sure that the Birds game plans in those games was to stop power run first. It will be the plan Friday night. I think HHS will try to out number Elder in the box and try to force them to throw.

It will be interesting to see if Weinrich stays with his 3-4 system, or brings in an extra lineman to help keep people off of the linebackers. I say you make Elder beat you through the air. By all accounts, the Ramsey kid is legit, but I'd take my chances there as opposed to letting Schroer eat the clock. A track meet would be perfect.

Nobody is sleeping, you have to take away their most immediate threat. Highlands will do ok in a firework show. They don't want Schroer getting 25 plus carries.

I personally think that the Birds will look, offensively speaking, similar to the 1st quarter of the University Christian game. Elder will absorb the clock like a sponge, Houli and co. will see the field sparingly and will need to make every possession count.....the pressure on Houli will, unlike UC, be sustained throughout the contest. Biggest, most anticipated game of the 2013 season.
