Talking to some Elder guys they seem pretty confident on defense that they will prevent Highlands from long sustainable drives. I don't know if I buy it or not. Chris Schroer is banged up, probably not a big secret, if you look at his last few games they have been not good to say the least, albeit against good teams. I think they plan on using him a lot to see if he can shift the game, if not they go to plan B. A big key to the game might be who can get the early lead. Elder is counting on the tough schedule they've faced and that they will terrorize Houliston all night. I wish the game was in Ft. Thomas, that would give the Birds the edge I think.

Yes, I see Ramsey having a big night running the ball as well as passing. Birds always seem to play off the ball and the Panthers throw a lot of slants and screens for easy 5's. Schroer is good for several yards a carry as well even if banged up. When I saw Holmes getting to Houliston last Friday, I thought, "oh no".

Does Highlands really go on long sustained drives? I can rest assure you that if Highlands scores, Elder will most likely have to drive it 80 yards. Question may be whether or not they can put several of those together in the game.

From the content of the last few pages, I'm actually smiling. Great to see some humor in this thread.

 

The Birds and big blue nation will show up, where and what they eat after the game is still unknown. Gotta root for the KY team.

This game is important to HHS in that it prepares them for the KY State tournament. HHS has won their district and they know what they are up against in the 4A state tournament.

 

I know the HHS players want to win and go undefeated and say they beat Elder a GCL team.

However, Elder has more at stake. This is a “district like” game for them and if they lose would affect their seeding and might affect if they get to play in their state tournament. They are at home at the Pit and will play with thousands of Westside fans for support.

 

This will most likely be the most people HHS will see at a game this year and most of them will not be rooting for them.

 

I am sure the Elder players and coaches know what’s at stake and will be fired up to go at HHS from the kick off. HHS will have to do a much better job from the start than they have in earlier games this year.

 

The HHS defense will need to play much better and take on the Elder energy that will be coming at them in their first possessions of play. In Oct. HHS played Harrison Co and then had a week off and then played Homes. It has been awhile since they have had to play hard for 4 qtrs. Also, Elder is likely the best team they will play this season.

 

I give Elder an edge because of the home field advantage and what they have at stake.

 

I hope HHS wins.
