SK's remaining opponents are 9-5 combined. Assuming Simon Kenton will win those last two games, that gives their opponents two more losses. I'll assume the other two schools win the other game they play, other than SK. That means their remaining opponents would end the season at 11-7. That means their opponents would end the season at 33-44. Now factor in that SK only played 4 6A schools. (only the ones in thier district) and they have 2-4A and 2-2A schools in there. Wonder why we don't see any SK fans on this thread? Fool's Gold I tell ya! I don't like hating on them, but they MUST increase the level of competition on their schedule is they want the respect they are looking for.

Five 4A-6A opponents who all have winning records (including the scoffed at Lima Senior) and 3 of which have been ranked in the top 10 in their class. Beechwood's strength of schedule on maxpreps is better than Bowling Green's.

They have not played nor will they play anyone below 4A, those teams being Boyle Co and Collins. Lost to Boyle 27-30, missed last second 26 yard field goal to tie the game. Have played 1 6A school, GRC.

Holy Cross? Awful. Conner? good football team. NewCath? good football team. Cooper? good football team. Ryle? awful. Campbell? good football team. Boone? awful. OK, so we're 8-0 with 2 really bad football teams on the schedule. However, Collins, NewCath, Conner and Campbell all think they have a shot at a state title and we beat each of them.

I know everyone wants everybody to play the toughest schedule possible. But logistically it's just not that easy. First, the really good teams have to have open dates when you do. And second, travel has to be considered. There a lot of teams in Northern KY that logistically, it just makes sense to play. Highlands or Cov Cath should probably be on their schedule, but beyond that, they do play most of the other good teams in Northern KY. And with all the teams in NKY, why schedule longer trips to play the Lexington or Louisville Schools (and why would they want to do the same when there are plenty of teams near them that make sense logistically to play??) Scheduling just isn't simply picking out who you want to play and making a phone call. Plus the not so great and average teams need games too.

What I think the SK fans forget is that they are 6A! When you tell me that you are bidding for a 6A state championship and you then tell me that playing NCC is a good game, I just kinda giggle. Yes, they are a good football team...FOR 2A! Cooper and Conner a good team compared to who? They are avg to a little above avg 5A schools. Again, you're a 6A school and they are average 5A schools. Campbell and Dixie are decent, but are they preparing you for the big boys? Collins is a decent 4A team. BUT THEY ARE 4A and don't have a chance of winning state in 4A. So when you talk about good games all being against classes as much as 4 below you, it kinda proves my point! Fools gold! Those shouldn't even be good games if you are wanting to be near the top of 6A. There is Cov Cath and HHS right down the road from you and plenty of Ohio schools to play to put together a competitive 6A schedule. And Lex and Louisville schools DO come up and you CAN go there. It happens a lot. Heck, you have two downstate schools on your schedule this year and you played Danville and Scott Co last year. So just in your own back yard, it happens twice a year. I'm just saying go after tougher games if you want our respect. You are a 6A program that is looking for recognition. You won't get that by playing 2A and 4A schools. They may be good in their own division, but should have no business playing with a powerhouse 6A program. I think I remember looking and SK was the only 6A NKY school that had 2 2A schools. And I think only one other had anything comparable.

 

Boone - all 5A and 6A with 2 good 4A teams (Cov Cath and Lex Cath). Nothing less.

Ryle - All 5's and 6's except Cov Cath (4A)

Dixie - All 5's and 6's, except a 1A (Beechwood and we know that's a rival game), 2A (NCC) and 4A (Cov Cath)

Camp Co. - Similar to SK, except they do play HHS. But do have a couple cupcakes as well like SK.

 

SK - 4-6A, 3-5A 1-4A and 2-2A...no Cov Cath or HHS.

I'm not saying it's easy to schedule, but as you stated, HHS and Cov Cath both have problems filling their schedules and they are SK's back yard. Should be playing them both, but play at least one of them! And there are plenty of Oh teams to play. If you are wanting to get your program respect and challenge them so they are ready for playoffs against the Louisville teams, there are plenty of opportunities to do that. Plenty! Everyone else makes it work somehow. I'm not just on SK for this, I think all the 6A teams should. But SK seems to always be looking for respect and trying to take it to another level. That won't happen by playing the same ole schedule. It's 6A for goodness sake. The highest level of football in KY. It should be hard!

4470 has it right. Why go to Lex or Lou to play 6A schools when you have good opponents here. New Cath may win a state title and is as good as some 6A schools. Conner is better than most 6A schools. What's the big deal? HC is down. Shouldn't have them on the schedule but it is what it is. When they were added it was to fill a void left by Danville.

Not my school but I'll throw Paducah Tilghman in the mix. Their record is only 3-5 but the opponents are 41-16.
