Why is Highlands Calling Time Outs When up 42-0?

Embarrassed to be a bird fan up 42-0 and calling time outs with less than a minute in the half. Poor sportsmanship.

Another Highlands' fan, in response:

I can't think of any excuse for that.

With a running clock you need to stop the clock just to get a play in.

It's all about perception. The perception by the people askng why was poor sportsmanship. I think everyone sitting around me was asking why as well.

The offense didn't see much of the field in the 1st half b/c most of the points were from the defense and special teams. Dale knew with a running clock going into the half that his starters would sit and wanted to get one more series in, IMO.

I think Dale was trying to think of a way to score 49 more points without being called BG

Probably needed some water it was a humid night.

You do not have to slow down the clock just to get a play in. The play click starts on the ready for play whistle which has nothing to do with a running clock. As well coached as HHS is they should be able to sub with no issue or get a play in (they are no huddle correct?). Mass subbing and such is a typical reason.

Mass subbing and such is a typical reason.

According to reports by the Highlands fan's that was not the case here.

Probably trying to get a few more snaps for Houliston and the first team. That would be my guess..

Not sure that you are understanding the scenario here.

HHS got the ball back with about 1:10 left in the second quarter on their own 20 yard line. Used 3 time outs after 2 completions and 1 incompletion. Had 1 shot at the endzone from the 25 to end the half. Knocked down.

The complaints are ludicrous and calling attention to them is nothing more than stirring the pot.

They called a timeout so they could find out the SK/CC score! :D

That was the first one.

The second was to recheck the score. No one could believe that the heralded SK defense with the best linebackers in the state could have given up 35 to the Camels. Turns out it was right. Play on.

Because they can. The rules say they have 3 timeouts a half and you can't take them home with you.

I tried taking them home one time and the wife stole them and put me in timeout.
