October 1, 201312 yr I haven't seen anyone mention Billy Eliot yet, but that is also a great Broadway show. I also saw Mary Poppins on a trip we took students to. It wasn't my favorite, but the production was tremendous.

October 1, 201312 yr The lovely lady and I have had Broadway Across America season tix for 6 years and have seen most listed on here. We loved Avenue Q. Jersey Boys is a must, seen it twice and absolutely enjoyed it both times. We are looking forward to Book of Mormon. I hope Ghost is good, we are going Saturday night. Phantom is my favorite and that is on the list this year.

Jersey Boys is outstanding...not as funny (and raunchy) as Book of Mormon. Great music!!
October 1, 201312 yr Jersey Boys is the slightly fictionalized story of Franky Valli and the Four Seasons. Music is fabulous. Did someone say Phantom is coming back to Louisville?

October 1, 201312 yr I got some tickets a while back for VERY cheap and went and saw Cats with my gf at the Lex Opera House. If this is how all musicals are, and this is SUPPOSED to be one of the more revered ones is my understanding...then leave me out of it. I didn't enjoy it much at all. Stupid story...hard to follow...no continuity. Now, with that said, I DID appreciate one of the solo songs one of the female performers did...beautiful voice. And, looking at it as a basketball coach, I did appreciate the timing and the coordination of many of the numbers, that takes hard work beyond belief I know. But just as a musical itself, no thanks.
October 1, 201312 yr 4 couples Something different that has not been suggested yet on here is Spiderman. Music is by Bono and The Edge from U2, but honestly the muscial score is forgetable. It was directed by Julie Taymor (Lion King). It is an absolute spectacle. Most shows when they tour look the same as they do in NYC. Phantom or Jersey Boys in Cincy are identical to the shows in NYC. It will be very difficult to recreate Spidermann on the road. It sent quite a few actors to the hospital during rehersal and once you see it you can say - yep I can see why.
October 1, 201312 yr Could you tell me more about Jersey Boys and Ghost?I can tell you about Ghost, as we just saw it two nights ago. It wasn't what I would call a "great" show, in my limited theatrical experience. The production and special effects were pretty spectacular, but some of the use of video seemed a bit overdone and intrusive. The singing was good, especially the woman playing Molly. Honestly, I think she should give up acting and start cutting albums. Great singer, not so good actor. I have to agree with those who say there was no chemistry between Sam and Molly. Actually, I didn't get the feeling that Sam was in love with Molly so much as in love with himself. The Oda Mae Brown character was the star of the show, in my opinion. The actress who played her was great, as was the man who played the subway ghost. By the way, some very cool effects come into play in the subway scene! All in all, I thought the acting was average at best, the singing was pretty good, the effects were awesome and the overall production was innovative. This wasn't my favorite musical, by a long shot, but it was worth going to see.

October 1, 201312 yr I've wanted to see that when I was in New York, but the wife.....(don't hold it against her) isn't a Monty Python fan.....I know right?!?!?!?! I do want to see Jersey Boys really bad, they are actually in the process of making the movie Jersey Boys so I guess I will see it when it comes out. Sacrilege!
