Washington Naval Yard...Shotgun not an AR-15 used

Featured Replies

Rut Ro Raggy...No AR-15 used!!! CNN and Fox were both reporting that the shooter had an AR-15, a Rifle and a Glock Pistol.

Shooter had a shotgun and picked up a Glock pistol from someone (Probably policeman) he shot...all of the talking heads fretting over those mean ol' AR's can rest now...it was just a shot gun.

The media sure hates AR-15s for some reason.

Good old media!!! Be nice just go get facts reported instead of theory, opinion, and drama talk.

I'm no gun enthusiast but the one guy on Fox's local affiliate said an AR-15 is the civilian version of the military issued M16. Is that accurate?

Yes. The M16 is fully automatic.

The AR15 is semi-automatic.

You should see my Daisy Red Rider AR-15 BB-gun

Liberals have brainwashed everyone now into thinking every gun is an AR.

Kind of. They look similar and you can get an AR-15 in the same caliber but operational wise they are light years apart.

FWIW, if I'm in a building that someone comes in and starts to shot up I'm not so sure I wouldn't want them to have an AR-15 instead of a shotgun.

How do you kill that many people with a shotgun? That's crazy.

Well if they are close by you could hit several with one shot. I could empty 7 shots out of a shot gun in way less than 7 seconds and be fairly accurate. Much easier to hit a target at close range with a shotgun, just point and shoot...not much aiming is required.

This made me laugh a little:

Fox hates gun owners!

This "goofball" didn't have to worry about anybody shooting back because the site's a "gun-free zone." :ohbrother:

How's DC's strict gun laws working??

I never heard anything about an AR-15. The only reports of guns I saw were on Twitter, and it said shotgun from the beginning...

First reports from the Navy Twitter site did say shotgun...then national media got the story and it was all about AR's for most of the day...one of the commentators even said that this was going to reopen the assault weapons ban discussion, even though none was used.
