Not being there and looking at the box score i'm going to have to agree. I wouldn't say Jefferson couldn't stop Vorihees if he had 14. Also the fact Jefferson had 13 and his teams doens't expect that many point out of him for them to win.

Sounds like some bluebird fans are exagerating.

You werent there so take it from someone that was there. Numerous times Vories blew by Duran Jefferson. He took it to Duran in the first half and drew fouls and Duran was parked next to Mr. Henly for most of 1st half. Henly even said in hte paper that they worked 3 different people on Vories to wear him down so NO... Duran didnt hold him in check. There was only 1 time and I counted that Duran denied Vories the ball and kept him from getting it. Yes, Duran got off on him late in the 4th quarter after Vories who did not come out of the game ONCE was already tired. Duran was quite rested from all the pine time he had due to not being able to guard Vories. Oh, I think Simpson even took him to the basket once or twice.

Vories was quiet in the 2nd and 3rd period and that was due to a good defensive job as well as the rim having a lid on it... he got open looks several times but couldnt get them to fall. If you just look at boxscores... you truly never know what happened and that goes for any game.

Duran is a great player...very skilled and sees the floor as well as other things like calling out to the ref that Johnson had blood on his elbow during a Free throw... to get him out of the game for 1 play... that was very heady...

From what I was just told by some Holmes people I seriously have doubts about Holmes winning the region now. Could be a huge. Stay tuned.

You may be eating crow.... I think Dixie will be a team that could knock off either HHS or Holmes if they arent careful.... I saw some of those boys and coach Chevalier at the game last night scouting...

They can scout all they want, Scott beat them twice in 2 weeks and Both HHS and Holmes blew Scott out the gym. Dixie is overmatched against these two.

If Holmes loses in the 9th to someone besides HHS or CCH I will be here happily with fork and knife in hand and crow on the platter. If not, I'll be here grilling it up for a few of our "anybody can beat anybody in the 9th" folks. I hope they're hungry. :D;)

Uh Oh!!!

Uh Oh!!!

I would hope that it would be understood that my claim was made with an intact Holmes team moving on. If, for some reason, that isn't the case, then obviously it changes things. :D

BOOOOOO!!!!

That theory doesn't hold alot of water, first off Scott and Dixie played early with Sam Lawson out one game and just coming back the other, at that time Scott was a better team. Since then Dixie has been tested with one of the toughest schedules around and has done a lot of growing up. If were going to be basing predictions on that theory just doesn't make sense. I mean Dixie beat Conner rather badly and your eagles just loss to them whats that mean, NOTHING! In addition Highlands just beat Bryan Station who then turned around and whooped Scott County, Does that make Highlands the #1 team in the State. Dixie winning the region is unlikely, but not ridiculous.

1. You are joking right about Jefferson not being able to stay with Vories. How many points did the kid that averages 20+ a game have. How successful was he in the second half. He didn't prevent Duran from really doing anything on his end either. I think you can chalk this up as Jefferson being the first person to put him in check. And you know what, this is the same think that three of my Bluebird friends told me after the game. Vories is a great player and had a great 1st quarter, but after that he was not that much of a factor IMO. I do think he is one the top players in the 9th though.

DD - you're either not paying attention or watching with your Tom Ellis blinders on. Vories, one-on-one, got past his man every time. Your theory that DJ did well because he didn't score is off base. Holmes did a great job of contesting his shots AFTER he got by his man. After the first, he still got open looks but he simply missed.

Not being there .

You had to be there. I know its hard to believe for some Holmes supporters but, trust me (and I'm not criticizing DJ) but he could not stop Vories penetration.

CovCath loses to Conner in the Regional Tourney, with the better team, about once every 3 years. That wasn't surprising at all. ;):D

No doubt.

Granted, Vories beat his man (sometimes 2 and 3) every time getting upcourt. But since he was the ONLY one who could bring it up successfully, by mid 4th Q he was "running on fumes". Holmes ran everyone they had at Jeff and it wore him out in the end (missed free throws - drives not "finished"). Willie should've utilized his bench more (Eaton-Hudy-and Wise) Yes Wise! Big-wide body to bang with...5 hard fouls left on the bench...could have saved Johnson/Smith for deeper in the 4th Q when every rebound was Holmes')
