I will agree with you about the part that Duran is a True Point Guard... but Jeffrey only plays the point by default. He is a 2G at heart and getting the ball on the wing off of screens would make him more effective. Jeffrey gets to the rim and has great baseline moves. Duran can get to the interior paint and by his man like a point guard should. His head is always on a swivel so he usually can make very nice passes by doing this. Vories has the scorers mentality and that is where they are different. Look, I think both of these guys have a tremendous amount of respect for each other and it probably isnt fair to say one is better than the other. We have to remember, these are just high school kids.....

 

 

No one on here is more sensitive to the young men that compete than me. My point in my post is that while many who have not watched Vories much are shocked , as you pointed out, he's a 2 guard. DJ is the consummate PG. That's not a criticism. Heck, I think Todd Jacobs overall game is better than DJ's but I'd take DJ if I was starting a team due to his PG skills.

My statement that Holmes does not have what it takes to win the region has nothing to do with their talent rather it is the intangibles. There are too many I's on that team IMO. I also do not think that there is any calming influence on that team. This is just one's opinion. I have seen many Holmes teams over the years with just as much talent or more that cannot seal the deal because of internal problems, not because they cannot play. I have no cake on my glasses, just stating my opinions. I would have too agree with most that there are only 3 teams that should win this region.

Point taken and I agree as well. I think your assessment is a good one. I saw the same things the other night..... exceptional talent but a bunch of guys who could lose it at any time.

I think with recent events while at first glance look to make the Bulldogs worse. From a chemistry standpoint, in the long run could be a good thing.

You also have to understand that basicaly this same team that could some how self distruct or fall apart won the region last year. They lost Lexi and that is it, they are another year older and wiser. I am sorry, but I am alot closer to this team than the out side observers on here and the techinals are way down, the breakdowns are 10 times less frequent, and the bottom line is if it was last year Holmes would not have come back to beat Highlands like they did on Tuesday. They would have folded up tent. Is this team high strung, yes. But they have the will and the ability to get it done.

Highlands guard Jeff Vories might be the quickest player in Northern Kentucky. Holmes was switching three pretty good defenders on him all night, and Vories still had little trouble getting to the basket. He just didn't finish like he normally does.

 

Holmes has a lot of talent, but Austin Hill is the most polished player on the team. It just always seems like he's in control.

 

 

If I had to put a point spread on Holmes' game against North College Hill on Sunday, I'd set it at about 28 points(NOTE: This may have been Ryan's thought PRIOR to Rice's dismissal).
