Just disappointed that it was not a more competitive game. Whether that is because the Birds were that much more superior or UC just not very good...really does not matter at this point.

I hope it isn't the same type of team or Florida football has the wool pulled over everyone's eyes.

 

I can't answer that question. I never thought of Florida football as anything special in the first place so them losing is no surprise to me.

 

I don't think of any state being more dominate than any other state due to the fact that all states compete for their own state titles and every state is different. Different set of rules set by each state on practice times etc. number of players etc. too many variables.

 

So when someone says Florida Football or TN Football or Ohio Football I don't think of them as being any better or any worse. I just think of them as another high school football team.

It's the same for every state. The consensus top programs are in the top classifications. Florida football is 5a-8a. Florida football isn't 2a.

Sort of what Trinity needed to do instead of losing a game they were up by 2 scores in. Trinity was more of a disappointment to me than UC was. UC was more or less what I expected out of them. T on the other hand I thought would be better than what they showed.

The difference in this game came down to one thing...depth. You can argue that Dale is the greatest offensive mind since Bill Walsh or that Highlands works harder, says their prayers and takes their vitamins better than other teams. But watching this game, it seemed that depth and Highlands ability to rotate players on each side of the ball was the difference...UC was flat worn out by the end of the first half.

 

I would like to see a match up of Highlands and a comparable sized state champ from Florida, then I think we'd see a heck of a game for four quarters. But Highlands against any team that doesn't platoon their players is a major mismatch.

Speaking of size, would someone share enrollment information with us for both Highlands and UC?

They have that many players playing both ways?

 

They are that out of shape?

 

They had that much trouble getting their plays in?

It is a shame too, University Christian has talent, before they ran out of gas sometime in the 2nd quarter they pretty much owned the Birds but then the Birds two platoon system, far superior coaching, balanced attack, and much better conditioned players embarrassed UC.

 

I was very disappointed in University Christian (FL). Who else was disappointed with them?

How do you think they would have done against Mayfield, NCC, Central or Belfry? Do you think you'd still be disappointed in them?

 

How much did UC not having a scrimmage prior to this game affect some of the little things like getting plays in?

 

Not sure why your disappointed that they had that many kids going both ways, small schools with small rosters do that every day. It's not like they had 100 kids on the sideline and had kids going both ways, they what maybe 40 kids?

For $5900 per year you can go to UC, but there are a lot of great teams in and around Jacksonville that you can go to for free.

Sames as schools with open enrollment in Kentucky except with out KSHAA interference from what I've read. Very liberal transfer policy in Florida.

I think Guru hit the nail on the head with his statement that UC had talent, but they were terribly out of shape and not fundamentally sound. Keep in mind they are a 2A football team in Florida, so you would expect them to have many players going both ways. They have several D-1 players on this years team (4 I believe) and the soph running back has also been offered by UNC, so they are talented. This game was one because of depth, conditioning and coaching among other things.
