If George Blanda, Dan Fouts, YA Tittle, Dan Marino, Warren Moon,Fran Tarkenton are all in the HoF then McNabb should be too.

Here are QB's with good numbers who are not in the HOF - Vinny Testaverde, Drew Bledsoe, Kerry Collins, Dave Kreig, Boomer Esiason, Phil Simms, Ken Anderson, Kurt Warner.

If McNabb gets in, should some of these players be in? As I look at your list of HOF'ers, I see a difference between them and the QB's not in the HOF. IMO McNabb is closer to my list of those not in than your list of those who are in.

One more item I will throw in for consideration. Pro football reference.com has a stat called Weighted Career Value. It is a sabermetric type stat that tries to rank all players, regardless of position. Something very ironic about that stat. McNabb is ranked 95th on that list and is tied with ... Randall Cunningham. Here is a link:

Valid points, but it is all about the Super Bowl. I disagree with it completely. But, as I said above, the HOF voters have made it clear that it is all about the Super Bowl when looking at QB's. You can nitpick on the numbers all you want, but the only number that matters is 4 Super Bowls for Kelly and only one for McNabb. Even though Kelly didn't win a Super Bowl, there are very few QB's who have played in 4 and that is why he is in the HOF.

I understand your point. Kelly is unique in that regard with 4 trips to the Super Bowl. Although, if you look at his playoff stats, they are shockingly not very good. Only 21 td's vs 27 picks and a rating of only 72 over 16 games. Mcnabb's while still somewhat pedestrian, are still much better. And you can't argue the fact that Kelly was surrounded by better talent. I don't think either guy belongs, but as an Eagles fan, would like to see Mcnabb get in.

NFL Career Approximate Value (Weighted) Leaders - Pro-Football-Reference.com

I'm not sure Kurt Warner is eligible for the HoF yet. Didn't be play in a Super Bowl 3-4 years ago?

The difference I see between McNabb and the QBs you listed is that McNabb was more of a winner. 5 NFC Championship games is still quite an accomplishment. People say he choked in big games...he never won a Super Bowl but forget that he got to one game before the Super Bowl 5 times. None of those QBs you listed can make that claim and other than Phil Simms none of them have a ring that they earned on the field(Drew Bledsoe). Half those guys you listed never won anything.

From 2000-2008 McNabb was a great QB. I'd like to have seen that Weighted Career Value stat from that time frame.

He's also tied with HoF Y.A. Tittle. I could be wrong but he won more than Tittle and has better stats than Tittle as well.

Career wins for starting QB:

McNabb is tied for 13th with Dave Kreig and Drew Bledsoe.

More irony, McNabb winning percentage is .612 and Randall Cunningham's is .611. As these numbers keep coming up, I have to ask the question - is McNabb better than Cunningham?

Most wins by a starting quarterback (NFL) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If George Blanda, Dan Fouts, YA Tittle, Dan Marino, Warren Moon,Fran Tarkenton are all in the HoF then McNabb should be too.

George Blanda retired as the NFL's all-time leading scorer. He was elected as much for his kicking accomplishments as his quarterbacking accomplishments.

Y.A. Tittle was a 2 time NFL MVP.

Dan Marino was an NFL MVP. He threw for 61,000 yards and and 420 touchdowns. He was 3 time First Team All-Pro. McNabb's numbers aren't even in the same zip code.

Warren Moon passed for 49,000 yards and 291 touchdowns. Both much more than McNabb.

Dan Fouts passed for 43,000 yards and 254 touchdowns. He was 3 times first team All-Pro and won 2 different MVP awards in 1982.

Fran Tarkenton was an NFL MVP and a 3 time First Team All-Pro. He threw for 47,003 yards and 342 touchdowns. All numbers significantly better than McNabb.

McNabb was never an MVP, First Team All-Pro. He didn't throw for as many yards as any of these guys except for Y.A. Tittle and George Blanda. However, Tittle won 2 MVP awards and Blanda wouldn't be in if not for his kicking. I just don't see McNabb stacking up to any of those guys.

YA Tittle won a championship didnt he?

Marino's numbers are much better. Not sure on the others.

It is difficult to go by the numbers. The game went through an evolution during Donovan's career; so, a player of his caliber 20 years ago would not have the same statistical resume. To me it is about the eye and feel test. When your argument about McNabb hinges upon his numbers he is not a HOFer. If he is, there will be an influx of guys here forward getting in to Canton.

bug has a man crush on McNabb.

When I googled HoF QBs who never won a Super Bowl Tittle was on the list.

Tittle retired in 1964, a couple of years before the first Super Bowl was played. He never won an NFL championship, and remarkably never even won a postseason game. He's the only modern era QB who has started and never won a postseason game.

He played in what...one more Super Bowl than McNabb?

2 more. 1-1 with the Rams, 0-1 with Zona.
