Dale is very animated. Definetly one of my favorite interviews so far.

Are you kidding me? The entire state has wanted this game for years, it's played itself out countless times on here, year after year, and it's the same ole' "couldn't make it work". I think that's ridiculous. It's good for the State and both storied programs. The best should make every opportunity to play the best. Seems like from the interview that nobody around here wants to play Highlands anymore anyway, so why not Trinity I say....

Mueller is the "Coach Cal" of N KY high school football. He's quite the salesman.

 

And Dales comments are never really that far off. Call him a salesman or whatever you want, but I can assure you next yr one day from now somebody will be questioning "how in the world is this kid better than Hoiltston was last yr"

 

Dale doesnt just talk the talk he walks the walk, the dude can coach...:thumb:

 

 

My comment was meant as a compliment to Coach. What you see in the video is what you get all the time. He does "sell" that program VERY well. Great coaches do.

I loved listening to his pronunciation of his players last names.

 

Dale rattled off the long list of players like it was his own kids that he was talking about. Some Ft. Thomas household names, Abner and Bardo were mentioned that I recognized. Probably missed a couple more.

 

Best team ever, sounds like a great season coming up for the Birds and I hope they stay healthy.

I agree. But what's that old saying, and I may not have it completely correct, but something to the effect of "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

Well, I think Sweep knows best about the paint situation on the stands. Give him time and he will answer.

 

But yeah, it's not quite Highlands Blue.

The best part of the interview was the fact that it prominently featured my "executive suite," aka "The Rail"...aka "The Perch"...

 

...but not aka "The Booth."

Anyone else shocked that he said Houliston has a chance to be better than Towles and McCoy?

 

Have you seen how perfect of a pass he throws? He would have started on most teams in the commonwealth last year.

Just thought I would bring the interview back up for those that may have missed it 2 weeks ago.

Comparing this interview to the old Don Webber interviews I thought he was much calmer in this interview. I love hearing Coach Mueller talk about his team.

I think what is interesting is how quickly he rattled off the Offensive guys name and hesitated at times with the Defense.

In all fairness, it would be best to interview both Head Coaches next time...LOL

 

Both of my sons played Defense for Coach Weinrich and when asked over time what did Dale say about this and that at practice, both boys would reply

"Dad, I never see much of Coach Mueller or talk much at all with him until Friday nites"

 

I think for those that don't realize or understand what Iam sayin, yes Dale is Head Coach of the Football team at Highlands but rarely sees the Defense during the week and Coach W is the Head Coach of the Defense and he rarely ever sees the Offense during the week. And when you have 100+ guys playing in your program it is alot to keep up with every kid all of the time.

 

That just goes to show you that Coach W has Dale's complete trust in handling half of the team and eventually the whole team some day...:thumb:

 

And in defense of Dale, I would say Coach W might have a hard time rattling off all of the Offensive guys as well...Just sayin LOL

At what "grade" do they finally lock in what side of the ball you will play? Soph. year? Are there late night discussions who goes where?

At the JV and Varsity level there is no one that plays on both sides of the ball. In fact, I think the defensive coaches handle the kickoff and punt teams and the offensive coaches handle the kickoff and punt return along with extra point and field goals. From what I understand, the kids get to choose what side of the ball they would like to play on after their frosh year of football.
