Letter from Ft. Mitchell about the Red Zone (old Indigo's).

Serious question as I do not know - did the city or residents complain back in the day when old Charlie owner the place? I loved drinking a cold one at the bar next to Charlie when he was drunker than a skunk, but the place has been improved tremendously over the years. I do not recall their being complaints when Charlie McKever's (sp?) was there so I am really surprised now.

I don't remember anyone having a problem with McKevers.

The whole North Ft Mitchell v South Ft Mitchell cracks me up. You could ride your bike in minutes from Buttermilk to Ft Wright. It's not like you need to get a GPS to get around there. How did it get this bad? Now, Villa Hills, and all their issues, can actually make fun of this crime-ridden, Peyton Place. Villa Hills mocks you Ft Mitchell, CONGRATS!

Villa Hills? Really? Nice try. Villa Hills can't get more screwed up. Fort Mitchell doesn't have rediculous signs all over every yard in the city, showing the world all the turmoil the city is in. I'm embarassed to have grown up there.

So, reading this letter... people that live across the street and in the area get snobby about a new bar and a bunch of them complain to the city; the city goes down, and talks with the owner, figures out there isn't a problem, sends a letter to the area where the snobs live telling them that the city isn't going to do what they want (and will be allowing the business to open), and then throws some strong words in there about dealing with issues if there's a problem, but then offers a coupon to help promote the guy's business. Not real happy about the tone of the letter, but I kinda sense like the city is trying to be supportive of the business while not coming out and telling the people crying about the business that they are wrong.

My beef isn't with the letter or city -- I'm way embarrassed about the people that were doing the complaining in the first place -- the snobs who apparently feel they complain about other people's paint; and i'd have hoped the mayor would have told them to !@#$ off. But I guess you can't do that and be politically correct in today's day and age.

1) Villa Hills can get more screwed up.

2) Ridiculous signs? Guess people aren't allowed to voice their opinion or show support anymore?? Missed the memo repealing the First Amendment.

3) Sounds like the mayor is trying to put fear into the new owner of the restaurant.

Well, this thread has been rather entertaining. Reality check.

1. I don't blame property owners from looking into the new business. Yes, the wrong business could have an impact on property values so no problem with them inquiring.

2. I applaud the mayor and city manager for following up on requests from residents to look into the business. That is their job, right?

Really, the big problem here IMO is the heavy handed and threatening tone in the letter. They definitely went overboard by threatening a new business before it has even opened. If I owned the business, I would be offended by the way this letter was written. And if the mayor and city manager made the threats in the meeting as outlined in the letter, I would have TACTFULLY told them that is no way to welcome someone who is about to add tax dollars to their budget. This business owner is now a tax payer and member of the community just like those complaining residents and he deserves to be treated better than what we are seeing in this letter.

The Mayor and the City Administrator should be ashamed of themselves. How embarrassing!

And by the way, there has never been a city named North Fort Mitchell. At one time there was Ft. Mitchell and South Ft. Mitchell which were merged eons ago.

This is how Ft. Mitchell gets a rep as a much of snobs. The Mayor is the worst.........oh, and he lives on the South side. Maybe he needs to move to where the 'beautiful homes and the country club' are. When's the next election????? How much of my tax money was spent on paper, envelopes and postage for this insanity????

We really need to find a better candidate for Mayor. Everyone should really start watching him.......

Start a thread on him and get it out in the open. Only recently have I heard people commenting on the current mayor. In a new thread, I will share what I heard.

Is this place even open? I drove by last night and there was one car in the parking lot and it looked closed.

Not open yet.

The old Holiday Inn.

(Remember, it had the "holidome")

I spent a night in the balls there......that didn't sound right, but it's true.

Isn't the place the old Charlie McCeavers? (sp)

Also, being from Ft. Mitchell I am embarrassed at the snobbery this letter reeks of.

Yes, and yes.
