This does not sound like this was a high school measured 40, but an EKU measured 40. Electronic measurements are faster than manual measurents. And yes, Dylan is that fast.

It would be awesome if he was that fast, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I posted it so shame on me. Exactly what would you like me to understand and what would you like me to research? If the times are so inaccurate then why do we have them in the first place? It is a gauge of speed and nothing else. I think there is other material on BGP that I feel your time would be better spent bashing.

He is commonly hand timed between 5.2 and 5.4. He has been laser timed at 6.2. What is his real time? I have no clue, but I would venture a guess that he is closer to a REAL 5.6 then he is a 5.2. And he is getting college attention.

 

Another example: I have spoke with many college coaches, and I have had multiple D1 coaches tell me, "If you can run a 4.7, you can play for me". That tells you that there are not many, if any, players out there to far below 4.7.

I time at swim meets (hand timing with stopwatch). There are always two timers for each swimmer. Never do the times match. Often times there is more than a couple tenths difference in the times and swimmers move a lot slower than someone running a 40. These 40 times are good discussion to get an idea about how fast a player might be, but I would never try to debate how fast someone is or debate one person's 40 time against another, especially when they are timed at different places by different people.

Point well taken. What the time variances do is create a window plus there are many variables in play with each timed sprint. The windows create an opportunity for judgement and as we all know........discussion. Same can be said for radar guns. I sat next to 3 scouts at the baseball regionals and all of their guns were giving different readings albeit close enough to form a judgement and profile. I tried to make this point of accuracy to a police officer once to no avail.

Track regionals are electronically timed and are rated accurate to 1/1000 of a second. He did not qualify to the state meet where time for the 100 are routinely very low 11's and even high 10's. So he is not even in the top 50 speed wise around the state.

Please bear in mind that Dillon Powell ran the Regional track meet last year as a Freshman. We can argue the accuracy of 40 times until we are SK blue in the face. I think we can draw the conclusion that Dillon is fast and barring injury will probably get faster in his next 3 years at SK. I am sure the Pioneer faithful are looking forward to what he can do. Many positive days ahead for Dillon.

They looked good. It was sort of crazy with both ends of the field going, etc. But what I saw they are good and the QB is outstanding.
