Does Newport even have a coach?

 

Yes, a gentleman from Tenn., name escapes me........there is a thread about him, you'll have to go back a page or two.

With all due respect, that's a step down IMHO.

 

It's always touchy when criticizing a particular program but I would think Holmes is a little more on solid ground, if you can call it that, than Newport.

 

Wherever the young man goes, IF there are problems, those problems need to be handled before he can be the best student-athlete he can be.

We've all been here before, but you can't run from your problems. If we quit our jobs because we didn't like what the boss said or did, we'd all be unemployed. My advice to the kid, play ball, do what's asked of you and move on. High school doesn't last forever. but the decisions you make now you can regret the rest of your life. I've seen the kid play and he can be dominate. He'll get noticed by a lot of colleges no matter if he gets along with the caoching staff or not.

I agree with everything you say except for the last part. Colleges coaches will put a tremendous amount of stock in whether or not kids get along with their high school coaches. There are way too many kids out there for them to waste time with a bad one. They won't do it.

Are you absolutely sure about the bolded point above? I seem to recall a case not too long ago of a player in N KY with a history of alleged bad decisions who was recruited by a top tier DI program. The topic was discussed extensively on this board.:idunno:

There is always an exception. If your Shawn Alexander talent, then yes, you may still get that scholarship.

Seriously? Unreal, I was not attacking Shawn's character at all. I was simply saying, if you had his talent in high school, you would be given multiple chances. Was using his name as an example. Feel free to start a Shawn Alexander thread and ill give you my opinion of him if you want.

Someone mentioned him at Cooper. He'll either have to actually move to Cooper's district or , like some have done, move in with a Cooper family. I don't see either happening.

If he wants to play at another public school - Newport, Cooper, wherever - he will have to move.

Highly unlikely and probably won't happen but he does have family (very close family) in the Cooper district. However, everything I have heard from some at Holmes is that he is in fact headed for Newport.

I didn't mean to imply that's where he was heading....I just know a couple of his coaches that he played for in the BCPWFL league are connected with Cooper, and they did a lot for him, and thought that connection could make Cooper a possible landing point.

The good thing about the guys that coach BJ in BCPWFL is that they coach knowing that kids are not perfect and often are under a lot of pressure through academics and athletics. These guys do their best to coach the kids be great young men academically first and then focus on athletics. So I could see Brandon wanting to fall back on those guys that taught him at a young age, but trust me saying Brandon is a hard worker for the correct staff. For those of you saying that Brandon is disrespectful to his current staff, know that the kid has been taught how to respect and could be just going through a difficult time. I see him succeeding wherever he winds up. High school coaches aren't just running programs, they should be trying to develop young men, and all young men don't respond the same.
