May 3, 201313 yr So tell me what the punishment for the parents of the dead child should be? Since we are all about accountability. Also should a kid that hangs themselves parents be prosecuted for having a rope available. One act is suicide. The other is a homicide (or manslaughter). Once again Ref, you bring up arguments that are totally different in their parameters.

Posters start with drunk driving, killing neighbor kids, etc. Someone tell me what the sentence should be for these God awful parents who allowed the death of their 2yr old. Im curious to know what type of punishment you want them to have. Edited May 3, 201313 yr by True blue (and gold) fix quote tags
May 3, 201313 yr What is the sentence for negligent homicide or manslaughter? That's what their punishment should be.
May 3, 201313 yr I read in this morning's paper that the rifle this child used is specifically designed and marketed towards children. The article said that the guns come in all different colors, including pink, and that the web site shows young boys and girls proudly displaying animals that they hunted. I am all for teaching kids about gun saftey if you have guns in the house, but this seems wrong.
May 4, 201313 yr I own one. Nothing wrong about it in my opinion. Safety taught with that weapon makes my son the conscientious hunter/ firearm owner he is today. This isn't a manufacturing or weapon issue. Negligent parenting 101.

Yes, I do think there is something wrong when a gun manufacturer peddles weapons for kids in their favorite colors. This is an instrument of death, not a Barbie wardrobe change.

Im curious to know what type of punishment you want them to have. Like All Tell said, I think it should be a sentence involving prison time that is suitable to negligent homicide. BTW, you missed the fact that your arguments and illustrations are no where near the subject at hand. They are totally different in nature and event.

May 4, 201313 yr I cannot like this enough. I think most do. I think the issue is that there are no legal consequences for the negligent parenting.
May 4, 201313 yr What is the sentence for negligent homicide or manslaughter? That's what their punishment should be. Should the parents whose kids get killed by pit bulls also go to jail.
May 4, 201313 yr I think most do. I think the issue is that there are no legal consequences for the negligent parenting. Every parent has been negligent at one point in time. Edited May 4, 201313 yr by True blue (and gold) fix quote tags
May 4, 201313 yr Most parents' negligence is not life threatening. Those that cause harm and/or death for their child should face criminal charges.
May 4, 201313 yr Should the parents whose kids get killed by pit bulls also go to jail.I would say yes, depending on the situation.
May 4, 201313 yr Most parents' negligence is not life threatening. Those that cause harm and/or death for their child should face criminal charges. I agree in most cases.
May 4, 201313 yr I agree in most cases. At the minimum, I feel there should be a thorough investigation. Too many times (IMO) incidents are ruled accidental far too quickly, on what seems to be just the parent's word. We'd never tolerate that if a child dies from malnourishment or a beating.
